I’ve had this happen on several occasions and it usually occurs on weekends (teenagers looking for beer or something in our garage refrigerator).

What I’d like to do is lie in wait for some clown to enter my garage on a Friday night. As he exits my garage, I’d like to taser him & teach him a lesson. Is this legal? Could I rough him up a bit then throw him in the street? Would I go do jail? I want this nonsense to stop. And, yes, I close my garage door as often as I can, but sometimes I forget. Nonetheless, I shouldn’t have to worry about someone - anyone - trespassing onto my property at any time. How do I know a person’s not going to enter my house and do something to my wife/kids? I look at it as I’d be defending myself.

I realize this may sound wierd, but other than installing a video surveillance system, it’s all I can think to do. I have to physically catch someone "in the act" I believe - and that’s nearly impossible unless I tape it.

Hey, I encrypted a few files about 2 months ago, with asus data security manager and now I need those files again but forgot the password. I know that the password contains 2 specific words and 3 numbers but i forgot the order I put them in. So is there anyone out there that knows a program that will calculate all the possibilities and save them to notepad?, Im no mathematician but im pretty sure there couldn’t be more then 300 possibilities Thanks to anyone who took the time to read this.

I have a low picket fence overlooking a road in a residential area. The crime in the area is on the increase. I want to do something for complete peace of mind. I’m even willing to take drastic measures (electric fence, cameras, barbed wire, high wall etc).

I originally purchased my GE Simon for home safety. Now, with a 15 year old daughter who has become fond of sneaking out at 2am, it’s become more of a child safety tool. As soon as I set it back up, I caught her trying to bypass the alarm on the front door by sticking a magnet between the piece on the door and the piece on the wall. This did not work, but I am not sure why as its only a magnet inside the plastic piece on the door. Is there any other way she could bypass the alarm?

I have uploaded a vb.net web project onto a host webserver. I am trying to chagne my connection string so that it wil connect to my Access database that is now on the host server in under the webroot/data/demo.mdb. The problem is they set it up as a DNS. I don’t know how to set up my connection string to access the database the connection string they gave me has DNS = dgfmed.demo and my connection string now looks like

There servers only support asp 1.3 and i cant just load up the database in my app_data folder and access it directly I have to keep it as a DNS. How can I make this connection string work I am totally lost on this issue.

My septic alarm sounds on and off about every 30 seconds. The float was replaced but still have same problem. The pump is working and water level is ok. What can be wrong? Any suggestions?

Computer forensics?

I am currently a senior in college and about to have a bachelors degree in Computer Science: Information security and assurance. Would I be able to get a jo in computer forensics or will I need to furthur my education a bit? If so, what should I study?

How do I turn off or disable a write protection / read only feature for either selected data files or the entire USB Thumb Drive? / I have tried to move some photo files and got a read only notice (was able to copy the files but not delete them off of the thumb drive) / Also have tried opening a database file that is stored on the thumb drive and receive the read only-write protection error message.
Computer is HP Pavilion a1710n with Windows Vista Home Premium operating system if that helps / Thumb Drive is LEXAR Jumpdrive 256MB Capacity

I scheduled windows backup task to back up two harddrives for a user. The combined total amout of data for both drives is approx 65GB. After the task ran, i looked up the .bkf file and it was only 8GB in size. Just wondering if i did someting wrong, or is the compression that good? I checked the event viewer and didn’t find any errors. Any suggestions?

How do I lock down the access with the Zone Alarm product to keep the hacker out? I’m using verison 7 of ZoneAlarm

I have a rover 25 and the alarm keeps sounding, usually at night, for no reason. I tried testing to see where any sensitive areas could be by shaking the car, rattling door handles etc.. and nothing happens, but at night it just randomly goes off.

I have noticed by researching software on the computer that most of them say "licensed for 1 year" etc. I am also considering purchasing it on eBay. Opinions on both please.

What kind of coding is needed to pull data directly from Bloomberg into an Excel sheet. For example, I want to be able to pull market data from the GIP Bloomberg screen into excel as a live feed… Each minute pull the current price of the security being tracked automatically.
I like the web query idea, however I am looking to pull the data from the Bloomberg service, not a website. The Bloomberg terminal is the only real live up to the second market tracker & I am looking to pull data directly from my Bloomberg account to Excel. I know that there are Bloomberg excel functions which are able to pull data, I am just unsure how to put it all together for what I need.

I moved into my flat (a council flat), and in it was a folder containing confidential information about the previous tenant who needed home help.

10 months later the council have not enquired me if the info was still in my flat (not my job to tell them).

Hasn’t my council violated a data protection principle or something? Could I possibly sue them?
I will name and shame them. It is East Ayrshire Council in South West Scotland.
The previous tenant died.
And yes it was left in a place where it could be easily seen.

I work as an assistant manager in a video rental shop. We are constantly loosing dvd’s either to loss or employee theft. I am wondering if there may be something we can do to lessen the amount of dvd’s mysteriously vanishing, without adding video surveillance.
Maybe a better tracking software, or a program that will help organize our shelves better for inventory. Free would be best. As I am the only one attempting to solve the problem, when a solution is found, I will inform the owner.
