I have virus protection already. I suspect a company is trying to sell me virus protection. But the constant warning irritates me.

I am a newly single woman again and moving to my own place. Anyone have any advice on ways I can protect myself and my home besides getting an alarm system and learning self defense. I have studied martial arts for 5 years and I do know how to defend myself my concern is how to avoid situations where I need defending.

I’m a college graduate (English: Writing and Communications) and I’m looking for a job like most grads. I love web and graphic design and I even started my own little online company for it with mostly word-of-mouth types of jobs. It’s not a steady paycheck, though, so I need to get a job. I just can’t seem to find a web/graphic design job in my area (Southern Massachusetts) that doesn’t require 2 years of experience going in or some other IT experience.

I don’t mind working with people in an office setting, but I’m so tired of dealing directly with customers– lots of customers. Am I the only one who feels this way?? I keep getting stuck at these dead-end jobs, like waitressing or call centers because I don’t have the experience. The call center was the worst… I was the only person I knew who was hoping to be part of a 10-car pile-up on the highway just so I wouldn’t have to go in.

I’ve been trying to get some clerical jobs, but even those ask for 6-12 months of experience. Data entry sounded promising but most require experience and a typing certificate.

So my question is, are there any jobs out there that don’t deal much with the public that also don’t require years of experience just to get in? I’m not opposed to jobs that make you want to sleep or seem really boring. In fact, I welcome it if it means not working with people or talking to customers! The closest I’ve found is security guard on the 3rd shift but there’s got to be something else out there. I just can’t take people anymore. I really want to cry when I think about having to do this for another 40 years.

Is there a software equalent to IBM’s ThinkVantage Active Protection that can be used on other laptops? Basically to protect laptop hard drive from damage in the event of a physical crash of the hard-drive. For example, when you drop your laptop on the flloor, the hard disk shuts down before it hits the ground and essentially saves data.

I can’t use Visual Studio to create Update and Delete Queries through the Data Source configuration Wizard. Visual Studio 2005.

I can use the wizard to create the Select query. The check boxes for Update and Delete queries are dimmed out and I can’t select them. I do have the primary key in my select query and that works fine when I test it. I am also able to manually write a delete query and put it into the data souce object. The manually created query works fine!

This worked fine until last Friday or so. It has not worked today at all. I think something was changed at the hosting service because I have not changed anything.

I am logging into the SQL Server on xxxxxx.com with this connection string:

connectionString="Data Source=xxxxxx.com;
Initial Catalog=vTrac;
Persist Security Info=True;
User ID=xxxxxxx;
Password=xxxxxxxxx"

The ‘xxxxx’s are to redact sensitive info.

I have two CO alarms in my apartment, for I have a large apartment in NYC. Anyway, the CO alarms keep going off. They’ve been going off continuously for about an hour, and after I shut them off, after five minutes they come back on. As it was going off, the light under "Alarm: Head To Cleam Air" was flashing, but it usually does that, and we’ve brushed it off and lived to the next day. I went to the superintendent of my building with a neighbor because I’m home alone, and he said that it was probably a malfunction, for the CO alarms usually go off in my apartment(s) about once every two weeks. We’ve already had both of them replaced several times due to malfunctions. I was just wondering, though: how can I be sure that the alarms are actually detecting carbon monoxide, and how do I know when it’s just a malfunction, or is there no way to know when one of the two is occuring?

I dont wanna lose the data.

I have had where there are accounts. I live alone, but may have someone moving in and I want to make sure my use of the computer is secure, Can you tell me how to do this with baby steps ? I have windows xp
I come here and ask because I wasn’t raised with computers, I’m on the wrong side of 50 and I don’t even have the right words to search with for answerer #1

We are moving into a home that already had Brinks installed but we have never used a home security service before and aren’t sure how these services work.
Do we have to activate with Brinks only or switch companies AND use the Brinks keypads/equipment or would a new company have to come in and replace the equipment entirely?
Or should we just stick with Brinks? :)
Thanks.

I tried uninstalling it with Revo Uninstaller and CCleaner but the uninstallation cannot be made possible because of this error..

i am a 22 yr old female. this morning i woke up and snoozed my alarm and went back to sleep. when i woke up 45 mins later i had wet the bed. pls tell me why!!! This happened one other time when i was in grade 6, so ages ago but then i was too old for it, and it happened then bcoz i dreamed i was on the toilet, and it has worried me ever since, coz i thought that could easily happen again, but i wasnt even dreaming that, i was having a very vivid dream that i was being chased by the police. does anyone know what this means? im really concerned. if it makes a difference, i am overweight, and just this week have started drinkinkg 2 litres of water a day. i used to only drink about 500mls but when i woke the first time i did not need to go to the toilet……….please be kind and help.

If cameras weren’t supervised live, only recorded. And you find out that some inventory was missing, say 00’s worth. Would it make since to hire someone to go back and review the recordings? For example, you hire someone at /hr, to check out 3 month’s worth of video. 3 Month’s worth is about (12 hr days x 6 cameras x 7 days a week x 4 weeks x 3 months = ) 6048hrs worth of footage. Let’s say that the footage is viewed 4x speed, that would still leave 1512 hrs of tapes to observe, that’s 1512hrs x /hr = ,120. Even half of that would be 60! With this in mind, would it make since for a retailer to investigate their loss? Because at places like Best Buy, Costco, and Sam’s Club, your receipt will get checked - which in my opinion is the most effective and economical theft deterent. At other places like the newly understaffed Circuit City only seems to be some employees, recording cameras, and an unguarded door, which I think is a haven for crooks. Your thoughts?

I left my lights on had to jump start my car now my keyless entery and the alarm dont work.

im using zone alarm free and i keep getting a security alert that says tcp port 2869 from 192.168.1.1 and the other is tcp port 2051 tcp flags:s it is all inbound but i dont know what it is at all in a 15 min period it blocked 48 attempts and it keeps poping up i need help please its gettin annoying
in zone alarm list it says that it is svchost.exe in a 6hr period it says that it blocked 4336 intrusion all from the same one i have no high risk intrusions just the low ones i need help
i have also ran spybot and adaware and yahoo antispyware to check for spyware checked for viruses cant find nothing wrong
i figured out that it was my wireless router it had stateful packet inspection so i disabled it and everything working good thanks for the answers

I was home alone because i don’t have school today, and my dad forgot that i was home so he set the alarm thingy. i woke up around ten, and was walking to the fridge when i think i set off the motion senser thingy. the alarm sounds like a person screaming bloody murder really loud and it’s like a continuous scream. i was scared like you wouldn’t believe because i heard it and i had no idea it was the burgalar alarm i was like, "it’s the rapture AAAAHHH!!!!" lol when i finally realized it was the alarm i was scared because i thought i set it off or someone was breaking in so i wasn’t sure if i should turn it off or not. after like a minute or two i turned it of and yelled "who’s there!!!" and there wasn’t anybody so yeah anyway… the hamster was like only 20 feet away from the alarm thing and it was super loud and scary and i forgot to check on it because i was scared. so i was wondering if that probably scared te living crap out of the hamster and it would be emotionally scarred for life or something. she’s not deaf, i checked, and she seems fine, but i’m kinda worried….

Obviously, there are a lot of considerations that go into choosing a database, but thought I might get some tips from you guys.

I’m building a fun data-centric web site. I need a database to store large chunks of text (say 1-5 paragraphs) that people will enter and read online. The catch is that I’m just one person with little to no money to spend and I don’t really need an ‘enterprise’ solution. Not that I expect my web site to be popular, but I guess you never know, so scalability might be a plus as well. And I don’t want to be hacked either, so I think security is a concern but not a huge one.

I considered sql server express 2005 … but I’m not sure about the licensing and putting it on the web?

thanks for any input!

also, I only want one camera just to monitor my front door. What brands will you suggest, I want one that is not very expensive but not too cheap!…and of course where can I get it..if u can include that..thanks..

is it possible for it to cause any damage to desktop computer or monitor.
