We recently purchased a home with an ADT security system already installed. If we are able to get the code from the previous owners, are we able to use the system without purchasing their monitoring service?
If we can’t get the code from the previous owners, is there a way to reset the system to factory settings so that we can set our own code?
Our landlords want us to keep their security alarm system activated but to do so we have to connect a home phone which will cost us money. Can they make us do that?
I just bought a home with an alarm system already installed. There are no business signs outside the house or business logos on the alarm keypad. I have no idea who installed the alarm. However, it’s still active! The alarm is connected to the same breaker switch that runs the A/C and pool pump so I can’t just turn off the breaker. I looked EVERYWHERE for this "box" people keep telling me about, that I should be able to just unplug or disconnect but I don’t see it anywhere. Not closets, rooms, attic, etc. The previous owner will be no help what so ever and neither will my genius real estate agent(he never showed the house so he doesn’t have the code). Any ideas? The only thing I can find that has to do with the alarm is the small keypad on the wall…
all of a sudden my doors do not beep when open and closed what happened… how do i check battery and get beep back working on home alarm
I have read reviews in which ADT is bad regarding their sales department and contracts, but other than that is their equipment and monitoring good?
I’m trying to install a 32 zone alarm system at home. does this mean that i can use 32 components?
Our fire alarm keeps going off at random times ever since we moved into our home(6 years ago). It’ll go off only at night when we are sleeping:/ The alarm goes off about 0-3 times a month. We change the batteries regularly. No one smokes in our house. Does anyone know why it keeps going off?
Uggggggggghhh Please Help! I ran errands all day, go home to drop items off about to leave back out to get lunch and MY CAR will not start. Every time I turn the key the alarm goes off I’ve tried hitting the kill switch to the alarm but it keeps going off, I’m getting power to the radio, gauge lights etc… I have a full tank of gas, daytime running lights therefore lights were not left on and battery approximately Year & 1/2 old. I don’t know if this will help but my car is a Chevrolet Cavalier 5yrs old, replaced the battery that came with the car-last year, never had any problems (until today of course), with approx. 29,000miles.
I just bought a wireless remote and I’d like to program it with my home security system. I have GE Networx NX-6 alarm monitoring system. Can anyone help?
I have an alarm system that we turn on at night. I have three levels in my home, and I know that if the alarm system is on and I open the window in my bedroom which is on the top level it will not go off. The window in my bedroom is one of those windows that only open from the inside with the spin handle.
I have the same window in the basement level, with the spin handle.. would the alarm go off if I tried opening the window in the basement?
I know that for large groups of people, day to day life in South Africa is a struggle due to disease, unemployment, poverty, and violence. From the news, the rest of the country lives in fear behind gated homes, armed guards, security bars, and alarms. That would make me think that go outside ones home is a fear filled experience. But, I suspsect that may a media enduced idea. How pleasant is day to day life in South Africa?

I feel like there is someone walking by around my house, like he is an intruder playing with something like my wiring, my alarm system etc. But i don’t know. I’m sixteen and i am home alone and every time I’m home alone i feel like there is someone out there. -its really dark outside.
So i’m embarrassed to call 911 because i don’t want them to think i am hallucinating and i don’t want my parents to say that i can’t bear staying home alone. Could call for patroll or something, because most likely when the cops arrive the intruder would run away. Could i call a cop to keep watch overnight. Or do they just come and go?
I don’t have fear of being home alone, I really think there is someone out there. My question was can i call the cops and let them make sure there is no one there by standing for a while.
My shift usually gets off around 10 O clock when the store closes. Every night, our new supervisor would turn on the alarm so the doors could lock and the sensors would turn on. Since he is new, he is still getting the hang of working the alarm. It took him maybe, 15 minutes for us to wait for him to set the alarm up. When he finally figured it out (so he thought) we went outside to our cars. As soon as we left the building and the alarm went off. Our alarm is pretty loud and noticable because it is a big store. Do you know what his reaction was? "Oh well, I’m going home." Do you think he would get fired for not taking care of the situation??? Would you fire him or write him up?
I moved into a new home in May of 2004 and at that time, it had brand new carbon monoxide alarms. It is a two story home. The alarm downstairs started to beep approximately every 45 seconds about 8 months so we installed new batteries, however it still beeped (please note our only gas appliance is our hot water heater in the garage). This problem continued so… I removed the battery until I could figure out what the problem was. Now the other alarm has started to beep and I just want to know for peace of mind, if there is a time frame as to when to replace the alarms.
Thanks for your continued help. I love Yahoo Answers!
Why would you do that? It’s terrible. DON’T EVER DO THAT AGAIN!!!!!!!!1
The characters are 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, M, V, T, G, Y, or R. What is the total number of codes that can be randomly assigned?
Hi, I have a Friedland solar alarm with various passives, micro switches etc, worked fine until a few days ago when the alarm went off / sounded in the middle of the day, system not activated. Clicked the remote and it stopped, Did this 3 times in total over half an hour. It’s done the same again today. So I have checked the 2 batteries in the alarm, 1 is a Duracell 9v (PP9P) reading 7.5 volts. The rechargeable battery is a Mcnair RB-FM-6 volt dry cell type reading 6.2 volts. Readings taken with Meter Iso -Tech IDM98 regularly calibrated, so I am assuming these voltage readings from this meter are correct. The alarm has been is use about 4 years with never any problems. So has any one any ideas as to what he problem is? Is it the 9v or 6 volt battery or some thing else.
Thanks, Andy Pandy.
