I was wondering if anyone has a good experience with a home security in las vegas.

If you have a built in pool in your backyard & a door that enters into the backyard then explain how the difference between a home security system & a pool door alarm operate in order to provide protection from a child entering into the area? Need answer to major dispute.

What I am looking for is a piece of software that I am able to create a ‘blueprint’ of my home, and add security devices to the ‘map’. Devices such as PIRs, pressure mats, cameras, and magnetic door sensors. I wish for the software to do a few things;

1. Alert and display when a device is activated.
2. Record a certain camera when a specific device is activated (E.G. Porch camera records if porch door sensor activated)
3. Send an email if a device is activated.

I would ideally like this as PC software, and I understand that there will be some hardware involved. Any names or links would be brilliant.

I recently put a deposit on a home that I wanted to rent, but then I became ill and could not move. I talked to the owner prior to my move in date and explain the reason. However, the owner refuses to refund my deposit and came up with all kinds of excuses that was never disclosed to me prior to this. We never entered into a written lease agreement, or had a security deposit signed by either of us throughout this whole ordeal. The only proof I have is a copy of my cashier’s check. Can the owner keep my money? What are my options?

How long did it take the police to get there?

We just installed a new ADT security system with multiple motion detectors etc… We are trying to figure out a way to secure our master bath/closet. The ADT guy suggested a glass break for the bathroom as there is a large tempered glass window in there that doesn’t open. When I questioned if it would work for tempered glass, he was unsure, so we didn’t install it.

1. Does the glass break monitor work with tempered glass?
2. If you don’t know, what would be your suggestion on securing the master bath/closet?
need to be secured and just secure the master bedroom, BUT our home was just broken into and they spent most of the time in our master bedroom/bath/closet. So, we need secure that area to alert us immediately if this happens again.

Since the window is in the master bath, by code, it cannot be regular glass. It MUST be tempered glass. So we have to work with what we have.

I am getting ready to rent, any advice for a temporary fix? We will only be there for 12-24 months and do not want to sign a 3 year contract for home monitoring systems. Is there anything I can add to my windows and sliding glass doors myself? I am looking for security while I am sleeping at night not for when I am away at work. Any suggestions would be great!
I have called several companies and they are only offering 36 months, I think they are full of crap because they say oh the economy is so bad that is why we HAVE to require 36 months! That is why I don’t want a 36 month contract!!!

I’m wanting to install a home security camera/DVR system. Good info seems hard to come by. I am temped to try the x10 wireless, (easiest looking solution), and also I do have one location that I would like to include, (outside building), that has AC power, but I can not get a wired (video) connection to . Does anyone have a recommendation between the x10 systems and the bundled systems, (First Security etc, Sams Club), type hard wired systems. Is there a good up to date reference book about this ? I have an attic and cellar, although it’s difficult at my age to do much, (wiring/crawling), in the confined attic space. Does anyone have an opinion about image quality/distance transmission of the x10 system ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. THANK-YOU in advance for your help !!

I wouldn’t ask this question unless I hadn’t had more than a couple experiences with crazy neurotic jealous women literally kicking in my front door, throwing bricks through the window, and engaging in all manner of illegal behavior against my person and my property. But this image doesn’t fit with the common perception of female behavior, even though studies show that when it comes to the more serious incidents of domestic violence, it is usually the female who picks up or uses an instrument (a plate, a lamp, a knife, a gun, driving a car to run you over or crash your car or house) as a way of "leveling the playing field".

But the Brinks home security commercials always show just a male breaking into a female’s home.

Isn’t it time for a little more equality and REALISTIC representations of the DIVERSITY of home violence which knows no gender boundaries? And shouldn’t a home security leader like Brinks be more aware of the unspoken problem of female violence such that they represent it in the messages and depictions they broadcast so widely?
