computer security?
there’s virus
there’s spyware
there’s adware
there’s malware
are there more?
what should i do to get rid of these? do i really need to install all it? or is there a package that contains all of these removers and protectors that do all the stuff?

There is no simple definition for spyware. Spyware is more of a catch all term that includes the most dangerous malware, pop up ads, key loggers and trojans.
Usually spyware removal software come bundle with antivirus software. However, a stand alone antivirus sofware program will not give you much protection. However a full scale securiy sofware will also do the job. The page below will give you all you need to choose. Hope this helps!

I highly recommend you purchase an antivirus / firewall combo from a reliable vendor like McAfee… and properly configure it (including to search for PuPs - potentially unwanted programs, etc..) and to ensure it is updating automatically the virus definition files and patches…
This will protect you from most viruses, trojans, worms, etc..

I also recommend ensuring you automatically update windows (windows update) so that you are getting the newest security patches. You are advised to check all the programs you run on a regular basis for updates, security patches, bug fixes, etc.. as well as to occasionally ceck for driver updates for your computer devices.
This will keep you fairly secure although no security program can teach you common sense. This is of vital importance.
I suggest everyone take some basic course in security awareness and basic computer maintenance. You will have a happier life if you invest a little time in this.

All the security software in the world wont do you any good especially if you are using file sharing programs such as limewire, kazaa, bear share etc….and if your pimpin out your myspace page with all those stupid little downloads…..well my friend you have an infected system….even with spyware and virus protection.
But to answer your question, all you really need is virus & spyware protection. PC Cillin Internet Security does a really good job and uses very little resources. You can get it at Best Buy for $49, but don’t install the firewall. If all of your windows updates are current then you already have a built in firewall from microsft and this is all the firewall you need….especially if you are using high speed internet through a router. Fly on albatross.
Try a online antivirus scanner and a online anti-adware/malware/spyware scanner in safe mode with network to clean up your computer BEFORE you download anything. This because the program you download can get infected.
Disable "System Restore" for Windows Me and XP, then restart your PC to clean your system restore points for viruses, spyware, adware etc.

Now restart in safe mode.
To get in safe mode Press "F8" upon boot up.
Select "Safe mode with Network".
Go to Start – Run - type iexplore http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html Enter(ok).
Do a full scan of all your drives. If something is found, delete it, reboot and do the same again in safe mode with network.
When that scan does not find anything you reboot again in safe mode with network.
Go to Start – Run – type iexplore http://www.ewido.net/en/ Enter(ok).
Do a full scan of all your drives. If something is found, delete it, reboot and do the same again in safe mode with network.
**NOTE**: Do NOT do anything else with your computer when scanning. This because you can start virus/adware/spyware/malware manually.
When no one of these scanners are showing anything you can reboot back to normal mode.
Turn on "System Restore".
