How can I stop pop-ups on my computer when I already have it set to High Security?
Before my computer crashed, I had a total of ZERO pop-ups. Now I have them even when I don't have the internet window pulled up! How does that happen?!? I've gone through and changed the security settings a zillion times, trying different options. I have my internet through the cable company and before the crash, we would actually have to click on the IE icon on desktop to access the net. Now the only way to stop the pop-ups from coming through is to turn off the box. I really need some help on this, ya'll. I have Fix-It Utilities 6 installed and I've done virus scans and a number of other things to find the problem, but just when I think I've solved it…boom! Another pop-up. I can understand them while I'm online….but to have them offline too? Someone please help! I'm going crazy here! lol

You have Ad-ware. Adware generates popups, and there are programs available to identify and remove these pesky things.
Get AdAware from lavasoft. go to http://www.download.com and search for it.
I have two separate popup blockers besides the one on my Netscape browser. I have almost no pop-ups. You aren't going to eliminate all of them unless you eliminate the Internet. Sorry.
I have 3 Anti-Spyware; 3 Anti-Adware; 1 Anti-Rootkit; 1 Anti-Virus; & 1 Firewall besides the 3 popup blockers. Guess what? I STILL will catch an adware once in a dog's age.
Block Pop-ups in IE
If you are using IE
Left click on Tools
Left click on Internet Options
Left click on Privacy
Make sure the box in front of Block pop-ups is checked
(Left click on it if you don't see a check mark)
Left click on OK
If anything breaks you will have to override those sites
that require you to allow popups in order to use them.
To do this,
Left click on Tools
Left click on Internet Options
Left click on Privacy
Left click on Sites
Type the domain name e.g. yahoo.com then left click on Allow
When you have added all of them left click on OK
Left click on OK one more time
Close then reopen IE
Have fun but be safe!
This if free, and never get any pop-ups at all…Hi Cat it's laney….Good Luck
