I need some help with this surveillance technology time line (For the Book 1984)?
I don’t know, somehow this relates to the book 1984. This assignment is apart of my book report and I am totally stumped. I have look for some examples I just can’t find anything. If someone could throw a couple of ideas my way I would really appreciate it!
"Create a timeline of about 10 events starting in 1970 and extending to around 2030, which tracks developments in or problems with the ways video /audio surveillance is used and predicts what is likely to happen in the next 20 years"

Interesting question! As I understand it, it seems to be asking the different ways (similar to the book "1984") our personal freedoms have been and may continue to be, compromised!
Why the date 1970? Seems rather arbitrary, as telephonic spying has been around since the 30’s! Video didn’t really gain popular acceptance until the 70’s, but surreptitious photography has been around since the mid-1800’s!
I’ll just mention a couple things that might be of help to describe personal freedoms changing quality of existence;
The Presidential tapes of Nixon, giving fodder for his resignation!
In recent memory, the passing of the Patriot Act, allowing the government to tap anyone’s phones!
Surveillance & Traffic cameras.. Cell phone cameras.. GPS locators, You name it! Privacy is no longer Private! Sadly!
