It allows you to control and check status and location of your vehicle anywhere you access the internet. That includes home PCs, cell phones, and PDA's with wifi. We have installed these units and they work very well and are super cool. These units are only available through authorized retailers as the C3 module needs to be activated through a dealer portal before you install it. I suppose you can "purchase" the unit but I'm not sure how you would go about getting it turned on. Let me know what city you are local to and I'll let you know where you can get one.
