MSN problem…PLEASE HELP!?
I got a new laptop. Its an ACER. I downloaded Windows Live Messenger. When I try to sign on this happens:
MESSENGER HAS STOPPED WORKING.
A problem caused the problem to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
Then this pops up:
What is Data Execution Prevention?
Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is a security feature that can help prevent damage to your computer from viruses and other security threats. Harmful programs can try to attack Windows by attempting to run (also known as execute) code from system memory locations reserved for Windows and other authorized programs. These types of attacks can harm your programs and files.
DEP can help protect your computer by monitoring your programs to make sure that they use system memory safely. If DEP notices a program on your computer using memory incorrectly, it closes the program and notifies you.
Help!?

Hello ,
Uninstall Messenger and re-install . This may be the fix . I remove MSN Messenger completely because it has security loop holes . However , The DEP … Check its settings . I use this setting > Navigate > Start/right click "My Computer"/Properties/Advanced tab/in the "Performance" area , click the "Settings" button/click tab " Data Excecution Prevention"/tic -or- click on "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only"/OK . Reinstall Messenger .
Uninstall messenger run windows update and install all needed updates, I’d also recommend installing java and flash player before installing msn then try again. At least this is how I fixed the same problem a while back.
