My computer states Norton Internet Security has encountered an internal program error 0×80004005. What’s this?
This is a HP laptop that my son uses and I want to know if this is something critical.

Nothing critical. Probably just a memory leak at that address. Try reinstalling Norton, that would probably fix the error. Not anything critical I dont think but might crash norton and cause your system to not be secure.
yes it is! its most likely a virus which has been detected by the anti-virus software. alot of time tho the program cannot remove the whole threat. what i would do is if the pc came with a restore disk, i would back up anything important (with the exception of music, which is prolly where he got the virus from) and restore the pc to original state as if you just purchased it. and i would knock him on back of the head and tell him to stop illegally downloading music!
Hi,
It’s not likely to be critical but you should be careful using the net if the anti-virus software is not running.
I would contact Symantec support over this issue at :-

According to http://www.errornerds.com,it is usually caused by a corrupt registry entry, they suggest download-regcure free, click save file, and follow installation instructions, scan your pc,click the fix errors.they have regcure free at that site,I hope that helps.
