My Ps3 broke, I sent it into Sony, and I got a refurb back. I already backed up all my data on a flash drive… but I just put the flashdrive in, and tried to restore my backup data, but it isn’t working!? I’m 100 percent sure that the backup data is on the flashdrive.

I did however change the file name, when I backed up the data… does this have anything to do with it not working?

I work in a small home town restaurant that has been telling their employees that they have a security camera. to monitor the help and customers. my question is, don’t they have to post somewhere in the building that it is being monitored, also they say the cameras are hidden. Is that ethical?

I have scanned the internet about each of these three brands, comparing components, pricing, and service contracts; each of these providers list their offerings, and Protect America comes up as the best. I have searched for reviews from Consumer Reports, but I have come up dry. The various sites refer to the generic words, "consumer reviews", as well as "Consumer Digest". What is your insight on any of these three servces ? Can anyone find me reviews from Consumer Reports, as well?

The question is about the following information which was obtained from a library’s website about the free wi-fi internet they provide:
"Is the library’s wireless network secure?
The library’s public access wireless network is not secure. The library’s wireless network does not offer firewall protection, anti-virus protection, or data encryption. Data sent to or from your device can potentially be captured by someone else, and data you download (email or other files) could contain viruses, malicious code, or spyware, among other security risks. The library assumes no responsibility for the safety of your equipment or data while using the library’s network (wired or wireless). We recommend that you not transmit sensitive information (credit card data, passwords, etc.) using the library’s wireless network and that you have firewall and anti-virus software installed on your equipment. For more information about security:"

So my question is this:
If you use the internet at all, you will need to type in your password for your email. So does this mean that if you are using wi-fi like mentioned above, anyone in the vicinity with proper tools can simply grab all of the information you are typing? According to the statement above, it seems like when you use the wi-fi internet, it is just like plugging your computer into a big screen tv for everyone to see. The above statement makes it sound like anybody can just go to the library and steal everyones data that is being sent/received through there like a piece of cake. Is it really like that? If that is the case, then is there a way to use this wi-fi signal without compromising your data?

i heard a car alarm system has a turbo timer built in with it, but i forgot which company made it….any help??

thank you

When doing a complete PC backup in Windows Vista Ultimate, the backup software indicates that my data drive is considered a "system" disk and I cannot deselect it for backup. I really don’t need the drive to be backed up. Anyone know why it is showing up as a system drive? I scanned the folders and it is all just data from what I can see. Thanks for the help!

Okay, I have three programs that were installed on my laptop without my knowledge or consent and I would like them gone. All three are those fake anti-virus protection scams. One is called Anti-malware Doctor. The second is called Security Suite.

One doesn’t seem to even claim a name. I can not get rid of them through the control panel, in safe mode or otherwise. As you probably know, system restore is not possible in safe mode. In regular start-up, one or all three of these programs is blocking system restore. If I attempt to open it it is closed instantly.

I will not wipe my hard drive, I have very important information on it that I need saved.

The way I see it, I have three options. Fix it, don’t use it, use it anyway.

Not using it would inconvenience me. I need my own functioning computer for school and work. Using it anyway will eventually have undesirable consequences, I am sure, and with all the fucking windows popping up it is an entirely unpleasant experience. Fixing it would be optimal.

So, how do I remove these harmful programs and keep everything else?

Thank you so much.
Ran the malwarebyte in safe mode, found stuff, deleted it, it said restart, did (not in safe mode) problems persisted. Ran mwb again in safe mode, found stuff (only three that time) deleted it, it said restart, did (not in safe mode) problems persisted. Running it for a third time, so far has not resolved my issues.
the third time it found two things, deleted them, did not tell me to restart, remained in safe mode. I am now running it for a fourth time, and I intend to continue to do so until it finds nothing upon finishing a scan. After that, if problems still persist, I will try the task manager thing someone suggested.

However, even if that works, I will still have two out of three to get rid of. :/

Thanks for all of the suggestions, I will just keep moving down the list with trial and error until one catches them all. :) Got to the point where mwb in safe mode found nothing. Problems still persist, no improvement whatsoever. Tried the task manager thing. Right clicked on security suite, when to process, there was no option to locate file. Wtf now?

What method of correspondence (calls, letters, showing up in person) will get me noticed. As a new low voltage integrator ( security, home theater, structured wiring and central vac) the housing crunch has hurt business and I am trying to get the word out. Any ideas will be helpful.
Holy Cow! Tremendous suggestions so far. Thank you everyone. I should explain further. We recently (the last few years) expanded from security only to full blown integration. I do have a website here www.bht4me.com. I am adding a builder resources section and a home buyer resources section listing our partnered home builders links. Anything else I should do with it?

Hi There,
I have the free edition of Threatfire, and i was told since Threatfire doesn’t have a data base and operates differently, i should download another virus protection software on my computer. I have always been told never to run two virus softwares together. I would like to know your opinion.
Thanks For Your Help,
D.S.

A homeless man rummaging through the trash found plans for the Freedom Towers in NYC including information on the thickness of the concrete, etc. With all that happened on 9/11 and people’s heightened awareness of indentity theft, home security, how could this happen? What do you think?
