Well, I’m in need of extra motion sensors for my home and the subcontracted security company that installed my alarm is quoting a ridiculous price of 0 per sensor. Well I can get the sensors online for each brand new. The thing is, they wont guarantee the sensors even though I would go through them for installation. I know how to install the sensors and I would have to call ADT my monitor to tell them that new sensors were added. My question is will I have to state that I’m an installer and give some kind of special code when I call ADT telling them that new zones where added or state the company I work for if i were an installer or could I just tell them the zones with out any questions asked?
P.S: I am under a 3 year contract with ADT, but the system is mine.

thanks for the response. These motions are wireless and I have the installer’s and I am able to program them. I have the Ademco Lynx Panel. So your saying I can just do it myself and not notify ADT? I thought that if an alarm came in to them that it showed which zone was tripped. Wouldn’t they get some kind of unknown signal if one of the motions that I were to install triggered an alarm? Thanks
hmmm ok i see. What if i put my system on disregard and program and install the sensors. I do have the code and the manuals for programming. Will ADT give me a hard time and maybe take some kind of legal action? It is MY system and the only contract I have with them is for monitoring, the system is mine I should be able to do what every I like with it. any ideas, Thanks for the response =)

Can I stll use my security monitor to sound the alarm if someone breaks in my home after the system had been turned off. ADT said the equpment they installed is mine to keep. I thought maybe I might be able to rewire it or tweak it so the loud sirun would go off warning us.

The people at ADT always say how it costs hundreds to add window contacts to an alarm system. Seeing how window sensors cost less than , I wonder how hard it is to buy some window contacts and add them to my Honeywell alarm system? My current system is wireless, so I assume I need to find wireless window contacts. I am not sure how to go about getting the system to recognize them.

Basically you do not have to explain how it is done, but is it possible for us to do it ourselves without shelling over hundreds of dollars to ADT techs? Thanks.
Yeah my system is wireless so that is not necessary. I did more research just now and assume if I get a honeywell wireless window contact and make sure it works with my model, I can just install it on the window and it will automatically be detected?

I sign a contract with APX little over a year ago, they sold my account to ADT-Can I cancel my contract since I did’nt sign with ADT.

I live in Ky. My husband and I are interested in getting a security system for our home. Where can I find a good company that has a free offer or something? I know that adt does something like that but you have to pay a installation fee. Is that due after the put the system in? or before they come and do it? my home was robbed yesterday, they broke into my house through the window took all my electronics, apple computers, camaras etcs…
my contract expires in two months and would police suggest to buy a security system, but called adt and they only do three years contract! any suggestions? what should I do I am a young girl living bymyself …

reason i ask is because my brother smoked a cigarette in my room and it smells so bad, i need to open a window because i have to sleep in here, but my alarm is on and i dont want to wake my parents up. we have an ADT system, and i’m not sure how to disable it. would the alarm go off?

What is the best Wireless Home Security Monitoring System w/ siren… one that would monitor all windows & doors including Garage. I’ve seen ads for ADT, Brinks, GE. Looking for the best system, and ease of installation. (Not sure an installer is necessary or if do it yourselves are just as good.)

I have a problem with Brinks and ADT. . . I cannot get a security system due to my credit. They require a person to pass a credit check in order to receive one. Is there any legal action i can take to get a security system? I think a family with a child needs a security system, but we can’t get one cuz of our credit. It’s the most stupidest thing i’ve ever heard in my life.

I have several doors in my home armed with sensors, I want to disarm one of the doors upon leaving the premises, if I leave that particular door open after setting the alarm will it automatically disarm it. It is a ADT system.

Im moving to this place in Las Vegas where safety is a question… although it is a gated neighborhood i still feel unsafe.
My boyfriend says he’ll buy a shot gun to protect ourselves
but I heard there’s a high percentage of home invasion cases where
guns were too late to use or taken by criminal.

I remember when I used to live in this house I had ADT and realize how unreliable it was !!!! one time the alarm made a sound and it took them 30 minutes to send someone !!! good thing the alarm was caused by strong wind, i think.

My parents left me in my new house while they fled to the cape. i remembered i need to set the alarm but i’m not sure how to check if its already on. It’s a whole new system, i think ADT and i have no idea how to use it.
i guess i should have noted that i was outside of the house and feared that i might set it off, but i figured it out. thanks for the advice.

My dad has been looking into STONE alarm cuz they came to do a free installation offer… but they have a rating of C- in the Best Business Bureau… Any suggestions? good, bad, or should we go with ADT, BRINKS or someone else? thanks
