I have an older Jeep Cherokee with an alarm system. I must use the remote to unlock the door. If I try to use my key, it unlocks it, but the alarm trips. The car will start for a second, and automatically shut off.

I have gotten my remote wet and it doesn’t work until it dries out. Recently, my water bottle that came in contact with my keys got it wet and I was stranded until my husband could come with the other remote.

Is there anything else I can do to be able to use my key in that situation, short of disconnecting the alarm? It seems silly that I can’t use the key. What if the battery in the remote goes dead? I usually have my two kids with me, and this makes me nervous this will happen again.

Should I just disconnect the alarm?

Does anyone else have this problem?

I just bought a home with an alarm system already installed. There are no business signs outside the house or business logos on the alarm keypad. I have no idea who installed the alarm. However, it’s still active! The alarm is connected to the same breaker switch that runs the A/C and pool pump so I can’t just turn off the breaker. I looked EVERYWHERE for this "box" people keep telling me about, that I should be able to just unplug or disconnect but I don’t see it anywhere. Not closets, rooms, attic, etc. The previous owner will be no help what so ever and neither will my genius real estate agent(he never showed the house so he doesn’t have the code). Any ideas? The only thing I can find that has to do with the alarm is the small keypad on the wall…

My lease says "No water furniture, washing machines, additional phone or TV-cable outlets, alarm systems, or lock changes, additions, or rekeying is permitted unless statutorily allowed or we’ve consented in writing."

I find it unreasonable that installing an alarm system is not permitted for simply protecting us and our property; we live in a rather sensitive area. Is there a statute that allows renters to take reasonable measures to protect themselves? We’re in Florida.

I have a car. and the remote button will not unlock the car unless i am about 2 yards from it. Would i have to replace the batteries in the remote? or would i have to get a new alarm system?

In any case, how would would it cost for anther alarm system.
I just want to be able to lock my car. No need for the blaring sound.

Thanks in advance.

so in the episode where squidward eats his first krabby patty… i in thought when he went to the krusty krab at night he walked up to the door and was like all excited then he was like wait a minute… its too easy…. then he was like a bucket of water that’s our alarm system? then he was lit on fire and that happened again THEN he went into the patty vault… but in the episode that was just on tv he just went to the door and was like there it is and went right in. they skipped it right?
you guys are stupid i just watched it on youtube and i was right. "haha no its two different episodes." idiots…

Okay well I drive a 1997 Toyota 4Runner, everything is electronic (windows, locks, seats) would I be able to get installed that thing where you push a button and it starts your car? Since my car being older then most is there anything i can’t do?

I know I want the standard alarm system where it locks the doors, but i also want on the remote the button that starts the car.

Can I ?

all utilities are included in my rent one of which is for cable.

when Directv came to install a new sattelite they damaged my landlord’s roof door. she doesnt want to order any new boxes or services from them until that issue is resolved. in the meantime i got cable thru another provider in one bedroom but theres still another bedroom and the living room with tvs that wont work without being attached to cable.

its been five months now and i still dont have cable because of her going back and forth with Directv. is it fair for me to ask for a deduction in rent or how should i handle this situation?

yes, i can get cable on my own but then id be paying for it twice—once via my rent and again to another cable company–which i am already doing in one room.

i do understand her issue but what is fair in the meantime?

yes, my lease does specify that cable service is to be provided but it doesnt itemize how much of the rent is allocated toward which utility (heat, water, gas, electricity, cable, alarm system).

also, the alarm service is included in my lease but she never provided me with the passcode so we dont use it. its an extremely safe neighborhood but still.

what do you think is fair?
reading is fundamental.

the only cable i have in one room is the one that i pay for from another company.

although it is stated in the lease the landlord is not providing me with any cable anywhere.

I just got a 2002 Hyundai Elantra (Used). The previous owner install an alarm system in the car but I dont think he gave the car dealer the alarm remote. Does anyone have any clue where I can buy the remote for the alarm

99 altima is it possible that my car isn’t starting because of an alarm system that got triggered after i mistakenly put a car battery in the wrong way?

I have an alarm system that we turn on at night. I have three levels in my home, and I know that if the alarm system is on and I open the window in my bedroom which is on the top level it will not go off. The window in my bedroom is one of those windows that only open from the inside with the spin handle.

I have the same window in the basement level, with the spin handle.. would the alarm go off if I tried opening the window in the basement?

I feel like there is someone walking by around my house, like he is an intruder playing with something like my wiring, my alarm system etc. But i don’t know. I’m sixteen and i am home alone and every time I’m home alone i feel like there is someone out there. -its really dark outside.

So i’m embarrassed to call 911 because i don’t want them to think i am hallucinating and i don’t want my parents to say that i can’t bear staying home alone. Could call for patroll or something, because most likely when the cops arrive the intruder would run away. Could i call a cop to keep watch overnight. Or do they just come and go?
I don’t have fear of being home alone, I really think there is someone out there. My question was can i call the cops and let them make sure there is no one there by standing for a while.

just recently my car alarm is not letting me start my car. ive had the vechile for months now and the alarm system has never worked. but couple days ago i go to start my car and te alarm just keeps going off and it wont start i disconnected the battery just to shut it up. i know the only other thing to do is go to the dealership but does anyone have any more affordable answers???

I have had a white MacBook for a year and a half, and I treat it very well. It is always on my desk, its never leaves the house, and I clean it with eye glass clothes obsessively. My luck, today I accidentally knocked a water bottle over and about a quarter of it poured onto the far right side of my keyboard. I quickly dried it, and everything seemed fine. Then, my speakers weren’t working. I read that I had to jiggle the headphone jack which I did, and the speakers were then functional. However, moments later when I thought everything was going to be ok, black lines streaked down the screen and everything was freaking out. I quickly shut down the computer, and when I re-booted, the lines returned. I shut down and rebooted a few more times, until the screen was just black and a horrible "evacuation" beeping sound began. It sounded like an alarm system that was triggered, and it really flipped me out. I shut it down, and left my house. It turns out I was leaving for the airport for a 3 week bussiness trip, and I had to leave it as it is. I told my wife however to blow dry the keyboard, and to leave it open. I also just told her to remove the battery and unplug it after reading on various sites that that is recommended. However, the battery was removed several hours after the spill. With the black streaks, the sound, and the overall state of the laptop, is there any hope the machine will come back from this vegetative state? Its a shame I am not home to monitor it- its kill me, but I am really praying it isn’t a total loss. I just spoke to my wife, who told me before she took the battery out she tried booting it up. The apple logo appeared, and so did the blue screen, however the black streaks returned. This was hours after the spill. Does this progress mean anything? Please, someone help me understand what is going on (or what will happen) to my laptop.

I just got my car running but while it was down someone lost the keys with the remote on it and now i dont have the remote for it but i need to know if i can get another one programed to the alarm system. The alarm is an "auto page" remote start and its on a honda del sol. any advice?

I live in an apartment and have an alarm system but what else can I do (other than a weapon, I do have a toddler in the house) to prevent / protect us from burglars?
