I’m a first time home buyer and I’m just trying to get my facts straight. I’ve already met with my bank and they presented us with a package of information that I don’t quite understand yet. I’m waiting on a time when my husband can be available for a second meeting.

From what I’ve gathered I need to prepare to pay the following:
- utilities (unless partially included in condo fees)
- condo fees (if applicable)
- land transfer tax
- property taxes
- homeowners insurance
- lawyers fees

I’ve been warned to watch out for:
- whether or not things are included in the price such as appliances, lighting fixtures, window coverings, even the hot water tank…
- there is a previously installed alarm system in which the contract would be taken over
- there are tenants
- do-it-yourself renovations completed by the homeowner
- the reserve funds (or emergency funds) the property has (if townhouse or condos)

What am I missing? And how does the realtor get paid?

We are looking for a relatively inexpensive security camera for our house - not an "alarm system" just more of a camera to find out who has been at our house (someone has been at our house when we are not there; messing with landscaping, etc.). We don’t know much at all about cameras or what we need - probably something that could record while we were gone (it always happens when we are not there)… any advice would be great. Thanks!
I should add that the camera will be located on the front porch looking out at our driveway.

i juss got a alarm system and i am juss messin around with the lcd remote control. i pushed "AUX" button and the lock button and then the alarm goes off for 2 seconds and then the Full Trigger Shock Sensor Indicator icon shows up on my lcd screen. nothing trigger the alarm and the book doesnt tell u much about it. its the Clarion Ungo SR6000
i pushed "FUNCTION" then "AUX" then the lock button

We recently moved into a foreclosure home that has a Honeywell alarm system. The model number is lynxr/lynxr2y/lynxren. We have tried everything to figure out what the code might be, the people who lived here did not leave any information on the system. I would like to get it up and running, sometimes it beeps and I would like to know if there is a default code, and how to make it work. Right not it is flashing fire and fault. Its a prestige alarm remote control does anybody know where i can get a manuel?? How would i program the remote to go with my alarm system??

I have some old style black powder real muskets hanging on the wall of a vacation home for decor. They’re screwed on to the wall with brackets because I don’t want people pulling them down and playing with them cos they’re real.

There is no one in the house for few weeks, or months at a time. I’m wondering if this is a higher risk for people to want to steal, or not really? I’m wondering if I should just leave it or take it down.

The house is not completely isolated its in somewhat of a resort community with a few thousand people. There is an alarm system in the house, also a cleaning service cleans the place every couple of weeks.

I was thinking of also getting some cowboy guns or maybe WW2 guns to put up on the wall also, but I’m not sure.
The firing mechanism in the guns are disabled, but they are still real guns. But good point SCHMOOZIN.

My car doesn’t have powerlocks nor a car alarm. I can do without powerlocks but I’d really like to install an alarm system. Anyone have any experiences about installing car alarms? Should I go out and buy a kit or can a mechanic do this for a cheap price?

I have a chevy s10 truch with manual locks/windows…not power locks and windows. I want to get a keyless entry/alarm system. Is it possible to install? Is it expensive?Thank You!

While wiring a second garage door opener (two-door garage that already had one door set up), I unplugged the existing opener on the first door then plugged it back in within a few minutes. There is an alarm system that also plugs into this same outlet as the opener and now it has no power, totally dead. The opener works fine, and I plugged the alarm into the opener socket to see if it was just a socket problem but still dead.

My question is whether the power supply (small box about 3 cubic inches) has an internal fuse and can I replace it with something from Radio Shack? Trying to save the service call. Thanks.

Btw this is a Protection One alarm, not sure of the model.
Thank you! Any idea why that situation would have killed it in the first place? Both openers work fine, all four sockets (two outlets) work fine, but the alarm won’t power up. I’d hate to plug another transformer in and fry it too. I have a multimeter, anything I can look for? Appreciate it.

I just recently bought my car its a 2000 ford focus and all i got from the guy that sold it to me was a single key how do i check to see if my car has a alarm system ?… the guy never mentioned anything about the alarm i was worried about how it ran but now idk

My neighborhood recently been having lot of car and home burglaries, I’m thinking of getting a alarm system for my house but can’t decide on what’s the best alarm system or company to get, I’m deciding on either Brinks, ADT or Smith security, I’ve never heard of Smith but its alot more affordable but I don’t know if its as good, please help, I have a young child at home and scared living without an alarm system!

I had an attempted robbery on my house today, the robbers thought no one was home and when they came to the back I saw one of their faces, Luckily i was ok and called the police. My boyfriend is going out of town for a night with his friends since those were his orginal plans. It’s just that i don’t want to stay at my house by myself since I dont’t have an alarm system, but i will be getting one since this has happend. Am I being selfish by saying he shouldn’t go out with his friends since he rarely goes out? Just looking for some thought’s and opnions. Thanks

i need to figure how to permanently disable my saab 93 conv alarm system. it is causing my car to not start sometimes(even when i dont set alarm.) any thoughts on steps to do this

I bought my car around 4 months ago with no alarm system or remote start. Since then, I’ve moved. I now don’t park in a garage at night, so I want both of these features.

How much should I expect to spend (installation and system) for both of these?

My parents got an Alarm system From APX its a wireless LYNX system
but in my house there are 3 doors and 6 windows to protect (on the 1st floor)
and on the first floor they put in 3 door sensors and a motion detector
and on the 2nd floor just put a glass break sensor in one room and a glass break sensor in another room
will this be enough protection?

I have a Nissan and when i went to church left my car at the parking lot someone broke in by braking the window. I thought that all the cars that you buy have an alarm system, but, how come the alarm never went off? I my have the car remote and it has that button to make the siren go off. So i thought that mean that the car has an alarm, so i didn’t worry till know. So was it some professional that disabled the alarm or what happened? So i want to know what to look in my car and how to know that i have a good alarm system(Like if it has a blinking light or a sticker) or what to ask the mechanic what to put in or to do or how to make sure it don’t happen again?

My van won’t start after trying to replace the stereo. I think I may have triggered the alarm system and now the van won’t start. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get it running again?

Hello, I purchased a home with an alarm system in it, a DSC 832. I accidentally fried the existing circuit board by hastily attaching it to a 120 V line instead of the "plug in transformer" (I didn’t even know they made such!).

However, I found several online and would like to purchase the same unit. I was wondering if I needed a "master code" the activate the unit? I don’t really want anyone to monitor the unit, I just want to have an alarm to go off if someone intrudes. Everything in the house is already set up for the unit, wired and wireless remotes as well as smoke alarms. I just want to replace the circuit board, any other suggestions or help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hit 10 days ago, Now stovetop won’t light (gas cooktop w/electric ignition). My swimming pool heater will not heat up. It turns on but it will not heat the water. My alarm system is burnt up. I could smell wires burnt in home and alarm company called right after it happened. Everything else in home is fine. I did have to reset gfi plugs and unplug printer and then plug it back up. But everything else works.. Why gas related appliances and how do you fix it? Can I do it myself?
Oh yea…what are the chances my house could get hit again?
