On April 1st I was at the bookstore in Manhattan when I decided to play an April Fools joke on someone. I had my laptop with me. I folded it up and approached a white male about the wireless internet. I told him I was an expert hacker and that I had just hacked into his computer and that all of his information, all his passwords, his bank account numbers, and all his secret personal data was now downloaded onto my computer. I lifted up my laptown in front of him so that he would get the picture. At this point he was fuming. I can feel the heat from where I was standing. "Can somone call Security!" he mustered to hollar. I took my laptop and my cup of coffee and booted right out of there well before security or the NYPD could catch up with me.

It’s just the look in his eyes that really bothers me still. All the anger I saw. The man wanted to kill me. About 30 years old. Nicely dressed and some type of professional.

My husband & I have been together for close to 4 years now & I’m at my wits end. Every morning since we’ve been married I’ve had to wake my husband up. He doesn’t hear any alarm clock & I have to sprinkle water on him, shake him, & repeatedly call his name to get him to wake up. However, he also holds conversations in his sleep so sometimes I think he’s awake when he really isn’t.

He’ll get VERY grumpy & says hurtful things during these sleep/wake episodes, & he’s shocked when I tell him about it later; he never remembers it, but he’s always deeply regretful and feels terrible about it when I tell him. He is normally a VERY considerate & loving (so PLEASE don’t tell me to leave him; I won’t).

I’ve looked at some sleeping disorder websites & nothing really seems to match; no one even addresses the anger. Does he need to do a sleep study? On the weekends I can just let him wake up on his own & he’s just fine, & he goes to sleep just fine at night too.

Any ideas?

Today is Oct. 9th and I have just received a letter in the mail… almost three weeks after it occurred that two lap tops from a third party vendor were stolen and in it contained personal information including my SS# and the SS#s of 800,000 other Job Applicants that applied between July 2006 and June 2007. This means if you applied to Old Navy, Gap, and Banana Republic during this time period…all of your personal information is in the hands of possible identity thiefs and there is nothing you can do about it. They are offering 12 months of credit monitoring but somehow that doesn't make me feel any better. The incompetence of a multi-million dollar company not valuing the security of probable customers and job applicants anger me. What do you think? And have you gotten the letter too?
