I recently downloaded it because I heard it’s good for security. The boxes keep popping up though, also I noticed it slows things down, and at start up also.
Im considering removing it because it seems to be doing more harm than good. My computer worked better without it.
I’m running Window xp OS.

I just uninstalled the Zone Alarm and my comp running much better again. I’ll look for something else, although I have AVG which is good, and built in firewall with windows.

At the moment I have two security (anti spyware/ virus protection) systems on my computer. I want to delete one of them, because since a family member added the second the computer has become slower. I have AVG’s free 9.0 version and Microsoft Security Essentials. My question is which is the better of the two programs, that I should keep.

hi my comp has two problems..
1) i removed an antivirus program called threat fire but my computer at the security center in the control panel says its still there, i checked everywhere for threat fire but its completely gone i think… but its still there… im currently using avg as my antivirus program.
2) i think i have a malware in my comp, dont know how to remove it and dont think avg can remove it. it shows a red baloon on the bottom right corner and tell me to download xp guard, how cani remove this thing…

I have it plus AVG but I don’t like AVG really. It just takes up a lot of time to load up and I feel it’s making my computer sluggish.

Zone Alarm has the firewall and the anti virus. Plus I have Malwarebytes. Is this good enough?

NO HUGE ANSWERS PLEASE, short and simple recommendations if you must.
Actually, I kept AVG and uninstalled Zone Alarm, IT was dragging my system down, noticeably. Is this okay?

Hey everyone, I’ve previously used AVG but my pc still got Trojans and viruses. So I went and bought norton 360 and the pc broke. So I’m getting A new laptop for Christmas and was wondering what the best anti virus software is?

When I did a scan with Windows Live Safety Scanner, it warned me of a Trojan Horse on my PC. AVG’s free anti-virus/anti-spyware did not pick up this infection. I followed Microsoft’s advice, and installed Microsoft Security Essential. This got rid of the Trojan Horse.
It did such a good job that I am reluctant to uninstall it - but I wonder if MS Essential will conflict with my AVG programme?
I would be most grateful for any help from people who know their way around computer security issues. I don’t!
By the way, I also tried using Malwarebytes to zap the trojan horse - but it did not even pick it up during a long scan

Is G data paid a trustable anti-virus? What about AVG Internet security?
i have heard G Data has 99,8% detection on av-comparatives, which is like whaaa.
I didn’t see any reviews about avg IS (internet security), but like its more expensive that the other paid one, and the other paid one has 95% of detection, maybe internet security is better… anyways can you tell me about g data and avg IS?

After I install avg, my pc runs slowly and slowly. My friend told to change for avast.
But now control panel cant uninstall avg now:("
Any method to remove it? Its avg internet security.

I have tried everything from AVG (one of the worst antivirus) to Kaspersky (one of the best). I then have this idea of combining them all. I know that multiple security products on one computer isn’t good, causes system instability, but how about taking a bit from each one? For instance avira’s antivirus(the core only), then AVG antispyware (Ewido, probably the only thing good AVG has), and Zonealarm firewall. I know these won’t conflict because they aren’t in the same category. THey may cause my PC to load slower than usual but I think security is more important. I’ve come up with a list of stuff:

Avira Antivir (the core of the free version for antivirus protection)
AVG antispyware (for antispyware protection which includes rookit and trojan detection)
Avast Network Shield (for network protection, this isn’t a firewall, the web shiled is)
Zonealarm Firewall

This is my combination for a full internet scurity suite, I don’t like Comodo’s free one. PLease answer this is you are a professional and don’t answer just for points or I will report you. Keep in mind that I know more security than u do.

so far only avast, g data, avg and avira have been able to do that. mcafee, norton, comodo, microsoft security essentials, etc etc could not do anything to block a bad website. for example fake antivirus — only avast, avira, avg and g-data block it.

Are there any more antivirus that have such website blocking ability?

I ask this as I am planning on buying security this weekend, but I don’t know a whole lot about this kind of thing. I am just a generall computer user, i do have a website and spend a lot of time online and send a lot of Emails if this helps.

I have heard of Norton and AVG but thats as far as my knowledge on the subject goes, I would really appreciate some feedback.

I have a HP Pavilion and when I bought it, it came with Norton Internet Security and now when I uninstall it and install other Internet Security Suites like Kaspersky, ZoneAlarm, AVG or McAfee, the computer is boggy and it freezes. I had to hold the power button to turn it off.
i uninstalled them one by one when i installed them

just got a new computer with vista 64bit, installed avg and zone alarm. i also got a new net gear router. and my isp is with cox. the internet is fast but sometimes some pages take a long time to load. the isp provider said that when you have to much security it can slow your load times, is this true?

After having installed zone alarm I’ve had trouble viewing certain images (funny thing is not all images on the site are non-viewable) could someone help me out with having to disable zone alarm (as I downloaded it because I was having major problems with trojans)
I don’t know what else it could be. (it’s on manual right now I’m pretty sure)

and I have AVG –AVG is an anti-virus, it clears the stuff up after it’s already on my computer, I had it keep popping up telling me that it found a trojan so I downloaded ZA to prevent them from even getting in.
