AVG, Kaspersky, Norton or ESET

I am looking for the best protection that wont slow down my computer when its doing its scan. Which one of these have you guys used and what do you think of it?

Okay so i had McAfee on my computer and it kept messing up so i decided just to delete it. i heard bad things about the AVG free so i downloaded the Microsoft security essentials. what else do i need? do i need a separate firewall? and whats the difference between anti-spy ware and anti-malware? and lastly how many of each should i run without my computer crashing?

I got a virus and took my mini laptop to have the virus removed and after removing the virus they loaded AVG security on my computer. Now my computer is painfully slow. I already had Microsoft essentials. I’m thinking of deleting AVG because of the way my computer now runs. Isn’t Microsoft essentials enough? I ran a scan on Microsoft essentials and it found an infection and deleted it. Apparently AVG didn’t catch it. Do all security programs slow down the computer?

accidently and I tried to reinstall my AVG but i got a data execution prevention notice.I followed the instructions on how to turn it off but i still get the DEP notice .. can anyone help me? How can i turn this off and get my anti virus protection that i need?
thank you
G

I just installed AVG 8.0 anti-virus to my computer. when i was done i scanned my computer once, which took around an hour, and opened itunes. it asked if i wanted to make it my default sound. i said no. Then i exited out of itunes and saw a box that said a problem has occured while running AVG. can we send data back to AVG for diagnostics ( or something like that. I clicked no. i went back into itunes, downloaded a show episode and got ready to watch it except my speakers weren’t working. They were working before the scan. Don’t worry if you can’t help i’m going to call Geek Squad later. My speakers are plugged in and my computers saying new hadware found but it pulls up a widows installer to help install the hardware and it doesn’t work. I’ve tried many things. Thanks for any help.

I have some experience, but not with XP and I can’t find it’s root. Does it have a different name? It pops up at each restart and over-rides config, and only F* and last good config gets me in. Aside from buying it for , what do I do to remove it completely? I’ve tried Norton, AVG and spybot so far.

ok so my brother recommended avira. i have been using AVG and i just had someone uninstall AVG and install Zone Alarm and was wondering if there were conflicts with ZA and windows vista?

which program works best and should i be using?

a friend downloaded personal security and needs help removing it. I tried to start up in safemode and run avg but it wont work, so i removed the program files for personal security, and now i cant load vista normally. i tried to do a system restore and got the same prob. any suggestions or should i just backup the data and restore it all which may be ok cause he doesnt know his administrative password, and created a new account

I recently downloaded it because I heard it’s good for security. The boxes keep popping up though, also I noticed it slows things down, and at start up also.
Im considering removing it because it seems to be doing more harm than good. My computer worked better without it.
I’m running Window xp OS.

I just uninstalled the Zone Alarm and my comp running much better again. I’ll look for something else, although I have AVG which is good, and built in firewall with windows.

At the moment I have two security (anti spyware/ virus protection) systems on my computer. I want to delete one of them, because since a family member added the second the computer has become slower. I have AVG’s free 9.0 version and Microsoft Security Essentials. My question is which is the better of the two programs, that I should keep.

Please help with any suggestion

hi my comp has two problems..
1) i removed an antivirus program called threat fire but my computer at the security center in the control panel says its still there, i checked everywhere for threat fire but its completely gone i think… but its still there… im currently using avg as my antivirus program.
2) i think i have a malware in my comp, dont know how to remove it and dont think avg can remove it. it shows a red baloon on the bottom right corner and tell me to download xp guard, how cani remove this thing…

I have it plus AVG but I don’t like AVG really. It just takes up a lot of time to load up and I feel it’s making my computer sluggish.

Zone Alarm has the firewall and the anti virus. Plus I have Malwarebytes. Is this good enough?

NO HUGE ANSWERS PLEASE, short and simple recommendations if you must.
Actually, I kept AVG and uninstalled Zone Alarm, IT was dragging my system down, noticeably. Is this okay?

Hey everyone, I’ve previously used AVG but my pc still got Trojans and viruses. So I went and bought norton 360 and the pc broke. So I’m getting A new laptop for Christmas and was wondering what the best anti virus software is?

When I did a scan with Windows Live Safety Scanner, it warned me of a Trojan Horse on my PC. AVG’s free anti-virus/anti-spyware did not pick up this infection. I followed Microsoft’s advice, and installed Microsoft Security Essential. This got rid of the Trojan Horse.
It did such a good job that I am reluctant to uninstall it - but I wonder if MS Essential will conflict with my AVG programme?
I would be most grateful for any help from people who know their way around computer security issues. I don’t!
By the way, I also tried using Malwarebytes to zap the trojan horse - but it did not even pick it up during a long scan

Is G data paid a trustable anti-virus? What about AVG Internet security?
i have heard G Data has 99,8% detection on av-comparatives, which is like whaaa.
I didn’t see any reviews about avg IS (internet security), but like its more expensive that the other paid one, and the other paid one has 95% of detection, maybe internet security is better… anyways can you tell me about g data and avg IS?
