The neighbor is paranoid and thinks the rest of the neighbor hood is going to take his yard . So he put cameras on the fence to watch our yards. Is this legal??

My younger sister is 19 years old and she recently shoplifted a few items from her university store. Just compulsively, not out of necessity. She feels great regret and is riddled with anxiety. She knows she made a mistake. She wasn’t caught on the spot, but wonders if the store routinely checks their cameras and investigates any suspicious activity (i.e. a student shoplifting, matching the video to that students ID in the system).

Any account of a previous experience would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there. Today I had my iPod touch 16gb 2nd gen stolen. We had cross country practice and I left my iPod in the top of my gym bag and left it unattended while I went to a meeting (Bad idea I know, but it will never happen again). When I got back my bag was moved and my iPod was gone! I searched around everywhere and it wasnt found. I told the coach that it got stolen and he suggested I tell the athletics director, which I did and he is going to tell all the coaches to ask their athletes if they stole it, (and it definitly was an athlete because it was at the track at 3:00 in the afternoon). It would seem as if there is no hope, and I really feel that way, but good thing I was at least partially prepared. I had my iPod locked with an impossible password (not my birthyear), I had it set so that when the password is entered wrong 10 times, it deletes all the data, and I had the IFFound app installed where it says my name and phone number clearly on the slide to unlock screen (which doesnt get erased with the 10 wrong guesses thing). Unfortunatly it was Friday and it is a 3 day weekend. I have not told the school police officer, and there are no direct cameras where my bag was, although there are some cameras that point towards the building where the bag was, which could help. I also saw a few JV soccer kids walking towards the track, and I know one of the kids names, should I report him? I am certain that he didn’t steal it, (he already has one anyways) but we aren’t exactly friends, I might call it "allies". There was only like 3 teams on the track though, the JV soccer team, maybe Varsity Soccer, Cross Country (who I know didnt steal it) and the Varsity Football team. After entering the password wrong 10 times, the iPod is completely useless, you can’t even hack it, at least not with the level of brain My question is should I report that kid and do you think I have a prayer of getting it back?capacity in a football meat head (just kidding), but none of them left home before the game so they would have entered the password wrong 10 times and it would be useless. I did say that I didnt think he stole it but he was with a group of a bunch of kids I dont know. He might have seen them steal it, but he didnt steal it himself. If I were to report him then he would say what he saw

I don’t want to spend a fortune, but I’m not cheap either. Does anyone know of some decent wireless systems with about 4 cameras that I can mount outside and view from either my TV, Computer, or a monitor that comes with the system? Any help is appreciated.

Most stores have some sort of security system that involves video surveillance. But is it illegal for the cameras to also be recording audio - and the employees monitoring those cameras thus listening to private conversations? Or are customers foregoing such rights to privacy once they enter the store?

I have a low picket fence overlooking a road in a residential area. The crime in the area is on the increase. I want to do something for complete peace of mind. I’m even willing to take drastic measures (electric fence, cameras, barbed wire, high wall etc).

I have a samsung lcd 46inch, and a defender sentinel 11 security cam. I cannot get the pip to show cable tv while viewing the cameras. the cable shows fine, but the right side is never showing the camera feed. but will show if viewing the camera only with all (4) cameras. can anyone help please..Thanks

I am opening a PI business and wanted to get some opinions on what is a good start as far as cameras and surveillance equipment goes. I appreciate the input.

I’m looking for a way to get webcams or the like and use them for home security purposes.

I figure that I could get a computer that has several usb ports or equivalent and it would be dedicated just for that purpose. I would use a broadband connection to stream images off-site (not all the time), have a UPS (10-15 minute duration). I’m thinking of 4-6 cameras being managed by 1 software package.

I’d like the cameras mid-range - a ccd or low light camera probably isn’t needed, unless that would be the preferred tool for the job.

So basically, I’m looking for the computer, software, cameras and UPS. I don’t need comments on home networking or bandwidth. Computer size isn’t an issue, it will be tucked out of the way and not moved (racked, probably). Operating system isn’t all that important (unix would be preferred but not necessary) The cameras can be either fixed or movable - I haven’t really figured out how I want to lay them out yet.

I have a servalance system on my property. It wig wags back and forth from camera to camera. High quality infa red. I was wondering… Can I have this vidio imput imedietly switch to a pop up window on my P.C.?? This pop up window would pop up as the motion detecor was activated, giving me a quick view of the cameras. I have a monster H.D. wall mounted computor screen. Room on the screen is not a problem. Is there a program that can access an external vidio imput in this manner?? Or do I need to have the vidio switched externaly and have it priority, taking over the entire screen momentarely..????

I have been trying to get copies of footage possibly copied by public cameras on a nyc street last monday. I’ve been trying since last week, but the holidays and my inexperience in this has gotten me no where. I can’t even find a lawyer to get these tapes for me. Is it too late for me to get the footage?

Also, if anyone knows of the kind of lawyer I would need to get this that’d be great as I’m not having any luck finding someone that will do this little thing of getting me a copy of these tapes.

With all the unanswered questions, the suspicious nature of Bush's actions, the coincidences found leading up to the tragedy, the after the fact findings such as thermate in all 3 buildings, yet the other buildings were not destroyed, buildings build like fortresses by the way, designed to withstand at least 3 plane impacts and still stand. How can you say there was no conspiracy when physics, PHYSICS DICTATES that the towers could not fall in there own footprints, and wouldn't have fallen at all. How can you believe the mainstream when all the mainstream showed you were some distance cameras with little or no sound, what about the explosions, the bomb reports, the seismic data that only means it was an explosive placed on a grounded support. Or the fact Bushs cousin owned the security company, that the guards were put on standby for several weeks while "drills" were conducted where it was reported that they were there for 12 hours at a time-Doing what I ask?
