I was going to go with ADT or something similar, but I am not trying to accrue a monthly bill at this moment in time. I know that some monitoring is quite inexpensive, but please don’t give me any of these choices. I probably will go that route in the future….just not right now.

I have checked out X10 and some other ones, particularly one found on this site: http://www.efindoutthetruth.com/Alarms.htm. I was looking at the Wireless Home & Office Alarm System Package #1. I know with these systems there are no monitoring; however I can program it to call law enforcement or household numbers should there be a problem. Can someone recommend the best options available and why you think it is one of the best options. Also, please add if there are any cons BESIDES monitoring or anything else already mentioned. Thanks in advance.

I am looking for a career working with computers and that would help me get a telecommuting position and also make more money than I am currently as a teacher, but i know I may have to return to school. Which career is the best bet in IT? Here are the choices: Information Systems Security, Data Communication Systems Technology, Software Engineering Technology, IT Computer Network Systems, IT - Software Applications & Programming, IT - Web Development. If there is something not on this list you’d like to suggest, feel free to add it and describe it. Thanks for your serious and helpful replies.

Given all the choices today to access our personal information from web-based programs such as Google….someone suggested MSN’s Live.com as a free storage space….true or false?

Firewalls create barriers in order to prevent unauthorized access to a network. Think of the Internet as a series of hallways. Firewalls are the security doors through which some people (i.e. data) may pass and others may not.

RealSystem content usually passes through these barriers without trouble, but sometimes it is necessary to change your configuration settings. With the proper configuration settings, you can enjoy RealAudio and RealVideo.

Please scroll through the choices below to select the option which best describes you and the firewall information relevant to your needs

ok i need help choosing security software ive gotten a list of my five favorite choices in order,(will be getting laptop wiht 4gig ram, and intel core 2 duo processor)
1.kaspersky 2010
lots of features rhobust security, but it takes up 350k of ram while scanning for me so that is a big issue, also it takes up more than others just being there, big plus is sandbox and hips(i think, but cant remember)
2.Avira Premium Security Suite
av has excellent scanning capabilities, i dont know about firewall, but if its as good as its av then it should be fine
3.norton
i heard 2009 is very good and 2010 is better, its light, my only issue is a really bad experience that killed my computer basically, had to take it to tech
4.eset
what i have on one of the computers in my house, its light very good scanning, firewall is very simple, but i guess i can live with it, it is non intrusive, issue no hips as far as i know, also ive heard bad things about it lately
5.g-data
i heard it is a ram hog, but it scanning rates are high due to two av engines running on it

my uncle also recommended mcafee so ill put it on, but ive heard very bad things of it and never have been a fan of it

plz tell me why u think one is better than the rest, also(im not looking for a free one), (in addition i use malwarebytes, superantispyware, and spybot search and destroy)
Jon has the best answer so far since it comes from consumer reports ..but can you tell me anything about kaspersky
(methods of consumer reports)
even if their methods are not exactly what everyone else expects..also i dont like comodo firewall ive used it before

All of my online banking/credit cards/loan accounts, etc. have all started to require you to pick one of THEIR security questions. The choices that I get as security qestions are: What is your mothers maiden name? What is your first nephew's first name? and What is your paternal grandmothers first name? A few more, but they all basically revolve around names of people, etc. I'm sure that everyone is familliar with what I am talking about. I have a real problem with these questions! Anyone in your family knows all the answers! Also, many people participate in genealogy and share their family tress with distantly related relatives, and some even post theirs onto the internet, where they are available for anyone. Again, anyone who can gather family tree data now has all the information needed.
Why then are we now REQUIRED to answer the security questions of the banks? Especially on the sites where knowing the security question answer gains access to resest the user's password?

I recently purchased a subscription to SkillPort CBT training and want to update my skills and add a technical certification to my resume. I want to know if learning a programming language (which doesn't come naturally to me) or learning Networking or Data Security is better for me. I loved learning DreamWeaver because, as an instructional designer it showed how easily you can create web forms and items to enhance online learning. I have choices such as Six Sigma and Project Management which I know are good choices for me and have started those already. What would blend well with my eLearning and Instructional Design MA and experience which I already possess? (I have been consulting from my own business for years but am relocating and want to get hired by a large company)

I’m installing a car alarm but I don’t want and I don’t have to many choices where to put it, but the remote start doesn’t want to run because I don’t have the switch installed.

Thanks.
