Hey guys, I was just wondering if such a careers exists….Being a computer security specialist within law enforcement, you know, a guy that works within the same building as law enforcers and whenever cyber crime takes place or any evidence thats technical that needs assisting, they wud go to the computer security guy, do these careers take place?
I’ve searched online for careers that are related to computer security, but not for example, a computer security specialist. I’m not the wake-up and do the same routine kind of guy and, to sit behind the desk and secure the organization’s database. I would like my career to be more like adventurous, stopping criminals/hackers, moving from one place to the other, work for the government or something cool. I hope you understand my idea. Please help, I’m very clueless.
So, I’m trying to decide what colleges I want to apply for. The type of thing I’m interested in doing is to be a computer security specialist. If you need information about it, visit http://www.chubbinstitute.edu/programs/computer-networking-security/info/ I’d like to do that sort of thing, but not too in depth. I’m also interested in creative wring, but found out the hard way that I may not get very far. I’m thinking about going to Fairleigh Dickinson for various reasons, but I’m still undecided.
Should I major in computer science and minor in creative writing or the other way around? Should I totally forget about computer science or forget about creative writing?
Any opinion is helpful. College is confusing, especially when I have to think of what I want to do for my whole life. I’m better at English, and I’m not too good at math, but I enjoy working with computers and protecting them from viruses. Any ideas for me? Help needed. Thanks in advance!
This is all I found on yahoo: Computer Security Specialist
A big chunk of the ARRA money is dedicated to health-care information-technology initiatives — digitizing medical records so they’re easier to transmit and share between doctors, hospitals and pharmacists. Computer-security experts who can help keep electronic medical records locked away from computer hackers and other unauthorized users will be in high demand as the health-care sector modernizes, says Laurence Shatkin, author of "Great Jobs in the President’s Stimulus Plan."
Other specialists will be needed to train workers on how to keep the data safe. A brief certificate program may suffice to get you started in this field, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) says. "There’s going to be a special role here of how to keep prying eyes away," Shatkin says.
I'm want to become a computer security specialist, but I do not have ANY experience in the IT field. I DO have experience in Risk/Fraud and a bachelor's degree in Journalism. I understand that most of these positions require at least 4 years of experience in Information Technology. I'm trying to figure out which IT certification I should get first to start my career in Information Technology, to eventually move up to do computer security. I was thinking about starting with A+. Should I start with the A+ certification or get another certification first?
