I am a carer (H.C.A Level 3) Huntingtons disease. Elderly gentleman abused badly by son. Police cant do anything as the 90 year old will not ‘tell on him’… when the police leave the poor man is bullied even more. Family (daughter) not interested as she doesnt want the son (brother) living with her… passing the buck? I am periodically ‘bullied’ as I report/log incidents - but even Social Services wont do anything - meetings bring about no ‘action’. Its getting worse and the abuse is progressibely getting worse as well. A knife was ‘waved’ in front of the 90 year old man - can I get SOME help from someone here? I also need a UNION of some sort to back me up - can I ‘record or tape’ any of this? Data Protection act 1997? hmmm… tricky one. I have come to my wits end. I need secret cameras showing this guy pushing/pulling/yanking his dad - and then acting all sweet and innocent and ‘wide eyed’ when the police arrive..and then ‘I’ am over reacting? Agency not any help either.

I got my self as a named driver on my dads insurance policy,and then phoned them up to confirm payments, but the representitive worked out i was not my dad phoning in. when i told her that i was his son and just wnted to make sure weather,they recieved the money or not, she went and canceled the policy saying i had broken the data protection act. she told me they would’nt charge me anything but my dad would have to tell other insurance companies that he had been refused insurance, i just want to know that will this make a difference to my dad’s future insurance quotes?

TJM - fyi - we do that already! This is something to take away and reflect on. We have several services so it would be a little inpractical to round up the 50 or so people who are active in the church to meet and greet every newcomer at every service. Probably overwhelming and I, for one, could never remember every face and name of that many people! I think that might put people off if a crowd of people descended on you at once, don’t you?

After many attempts and Previous e-mails the networking site ladslads.com are re-activating my profile and also showing that I have been logging in there on the last log in date when I haven’t. I was conned out of £10,000. I went to court and got an order for sale of his property.
The first charge on the property is with Halifax. I have found that he was behind with mortgage payments through a redemption statement. Halifax will not disclose any information the property due to the Data protection act. I need to know when halifax would take action on possession of the house. The house has been empty for a long time and looks like nothing is being done. I am worried that with house prices falling that due to my second charge i will be left with nothing!!!

@Roharme - Recently the laid a trap by uploading a Oscar Award Film in a Torrent Website and traced who are all downloading it.
This is what happen to my friend but it was a PC game they traced the IP address then Virgin told them whom that IP address belong too.

I live in the UK (Bucks). I legally changed my name using a deed poll, last December. I had informally used my new name for several months before executing the deed.

I understand that it will take some time to get used to. But at least two colleges at the shop where I work, are refusing to address me by my new legal name.

One of them even used my old name on the PA (which customers can hear on the sales floor).

I would like to get some kind of court order/injunction for all colleagues to address me by my new legal name.

I would like to do the legal work by myself to keep costs down. I would be confident to represent myself in county court.

The best suits I know of are Tort of Harassment, an Anti-Harassment Injunction, or breach of the Data Protection Act 1998 (Section 4 - I think).

What would be most appropriate?
What form(s) do I need to fill in?
What sort of evidence/witnesses (if any) should I rely on?

Any legal suggestions, much appreciated.

As a junior (in-experienced) Union rep I have just seen a case which shocked me. A colleague was accused of theft, not one shred of evidence was produced, the police investigated and said there was no case to answer, yet the manager has pursued it and had the person in question dismissed.

Right now this person is devastated, racked to the bone, they are innocent. There was no shred of evidence, but they were dismissed on "the balance of probability" that they were guilty. It would not stand up in a Court of Law

They are so concerned about getting another job, will this follow them for the rest of their life? Or will the Data protection Act protect them? At this moment they can’t face going through an appeal, though I am encouraging them to go down that path, I’m not sure if they are strong enough, the shame is too much
To the first respondent; I think you must not be British, things aren’t like that here. To go through an appeal would not be seen as causing trouble but fighting for justice - cultural differences maybe?

I have tried the options suggested to remove myself from Face book but they did not appear to work. I requested Facebook to permanently remove ALL my details from their Database. This after having to rejoin in order to cancel my membership & I thought I had done so as I received a responce saying my membership was cancelled. However shortly after this I received another telling me that if I wanted to I could re sign in using the same details, therfore clearly they have not dons as requested and deleted all my information from their Database.
