Im trying to move files from an internal HD to and external HD. It is taking 1 hour to move 3 gigs of data. How or what can i do to make it faster? Googling says that i should be able to achieve 1 gig/ min. I am nowhere close. Please help. Thank you in advance.
BTW i am just doing a copy (from source) and paste (to destination).
I have also tried a Backup program (that came w/ the external HD).
Everything is so slowwww compare to the average rate of transfer posted.
Eg_303
This is exactly what i want…1gig/ min
Can you tell me how you achieve this?
Did you use any software to move your files?
Did you do it within windows?…??

hey i’m considering getting an external HD, now what concerns me is that all PC’s in my university r infected (yes that’s sad!) and they have a stupid proxy that prevents any antivirus (or any other software) from updating (sad too!)…but there r lots of data that i constantly need from these PC’s!

now my Q is: is there any technology/software for external HD’s to protect them from an infected PC? is it found in all externals or should i make sure it’s there? what brand do u think i should go for?

I want to have an automatic backup, once a day to a external HD. I have 5 different folders where the crucial data is in. What software is the best and what software is cheap (free) and good?

I want to run RAID 0 for performace, I’d like the security of RAID 10 but don’t want to have to buy 4 HD. Is it possible to run RAID 0 and use a backup external HD (as big as the combined RAID drives) and do a once-a-day backup for security? Or anything to that nature. I know that if one of the drives fails it wouldn’t be automatic rebuild, like RAID 10 but at least my data would be safe on another HD, right?

How big is the backup data file for the PS3. Is it something I can put on a thumb drive or do I need an external HD to store it while I swap drives?
