I downloaded AV Security, and ran the free security scan, as soon as I did my computer went on the fritz. I could not do anything, it is still not right. has anyone else had this problem with them. and how do I get rid of av security.

i just bought a refurbished gateway desktop with vista home premium which would be the best free security center for it that is free and includes antivirus and spy ware in 1? i swort of like mcafee my mom recommends bitfender(we have a year subscription for 1 more computer) anymore that yall recomend and why or if you recommend one of these why?

Can anyone suggest free security software for my portable hard drive(Western Digital). The Program should open a window asking for my user name and password whenever I connect it to any computer and should deny access to my data if a wrong user name and password submitted.

I am interested in better security for my computer. I am currently running Peer Guardian 2 and Avg 8.5 incase any viruses get through. I am wondering what other free security is out there, preferably one that can be turned on and off easily and one that actually does something. I had other programs before but they seemed to never find anything, and it definately wasnt because i didnt have any viruses cause i scanned with avg and it found about 5.

What is the best (and free) security software to put password on your external hard drive or folder (USB hard disk,thumb drive,etc) when we want to access the data in it?
I prefer a portable type of software since I will use it on many other computers and I don't have to install it many times.
I want to make sure that my data is secure if my external drive is being stolen. My thumb drive used to be stolen, but there's nothing much in it.
