I’m trying to clean out my computer and maximize performance. I’ve gotten rid of a few 100% unneccessary programs but I’m wondering if there are any more I don’t need. Could anyone tell me which ones are useless/and or unneccesary. Or atleast a little info on what the program is.

-Also, I don’t have Microsoft Word, Excel, nor the other stuff that comes with it. But I want them though. The ones that appear in the Add or Remove Programs are expired trials. Do I still need them there?
-The Punch! Home and Landscape program takes up a lot of memory, but I still want to keep it. Does it save memory or RAM if I install it on a different user or something?
Thanks in advance!
i was just interested to see, what people’s reviews are on zone alarm internet security suite 7. What do you people think about zone alarm security suite. Please provide thorough analysis. And also can Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite detect Keyloggers?
I installed the zone alarm internet security suite on my pc….and i noticed that it has anti virus and anti spyware in it……
my question is ….. do i have to install another antivirus or antispyware …. or should i continue using just these , which are going with the zone alarm firewall ?
I have been using Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite for years with no problems. I just bought a NAS drive (Buffalo LinkStation). For some reason, the Zone Alarm Anti Virus will not scan the drive. I can read and write to the drive without any problems. If I right mouse click on the drive in explorer and choose "scan drive with Zone Alarm Anti Virus" from the floating menu, it opens the virus scanner, but does not scan the drive. I saw on the Zone Lab User forum that there are other people having the same problem. I am using version 7 (with latest release). Does anybody know how to resolve?
THERE IS NOT A PATCH ON THE SITE AS ANS 1 Claims
I recently reinstalled windows MCE, on my C drive , over the corrupted windows MCE, due to some system files screwup that was bothering.
I did not format C drive .. I just reinstalled , over and let the installation do the cleaning.
as i had my data on the drive, and no way to back it up…
Now everytime i click a folder or drive it takes time to open up, it shows me that hour glass. Its like it is changing file permissons or something.
The only other thing i suspect is the firewall antivirus - which i switched from Norton to Zone Alarm 6, Internet security suite.. (this has some component level firewall)
the HDD is NTFS format.. its a fairly good laptop, bought recently.
can i rectify it.. ?
UltraDMA mode 5, write caching enabled for drive.
cpu util is <5-10% , memory is 1gb, with normally 400 mb used up .
no spyware. No suspicious proceses, No unessary processes.
Note: this acess is faster at second time.
Hdd is defraged, 50% space available
External and internal both are behaving same.
I suspect file permissions on NTFS.
cause i see a ?<number> user in the permissions for folders and drives.. which i believe is of my previous - before install login ID
On my desktop computer, I installed ATT Internet Security Suite, but it messed up my computer. Now I can’t open the Internet Explorer or Firefox. On the Windows Security, it says I have Firewall, but it can’t find any Antivirus programs. I have internet on my laptop, and I downloaded the Antivirus program onto my flashdrive and then moved it to my desktop. It extracted everything, but then it said that I must reboot the computer before anything can be installed or uninstalled, so I did, but it keeps saying the same thing over and over. I tried uninstalling the ATT Internet Security Suite, but it says the same thing. I think I might have a virus on it, but I can’t download anything to get rid of it. (My mom’s stubborn, she says that she wants to get the "security stuff" from ATT only…) Can anyone help me out?
I already tried to scan my computer, i scanned it in safe mode and no viruses were found. I continue to get pop ups and my computer is still slow.
I think the virus is command.exe b/c i remember it popped up and went away. Just a few minutes ago i was looking through my files and i found a note (like from notepad) named DatRemover. here is a sample of what is contained:
Deleting dat files:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Verizon\Verizon Internet Security Suite\Spyware.dat
Deleting dat files:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Verizon\Verizon Internet Security Suite\Virus.dat
Deleting dat files:
Deleting key files:
Now im thinking that this is what’s keeping my virus scanner from finding this virus. it’s freaking deleting everything lol. Somebody help me please
Cox high speed internet security suite keeps telling me that there is a suspected file or something, and I just want to know how to do a complete scan of all files on the computer.
Can you also tell me how to stop pop-ups on mozilla firefox. It never used to happen before. I would really appreciate it.
Ever since I installed Norton Internet Security Suite 2007, my computer has been barely functional. Startup now takes ten minutes, launching an application takes a few more, and it constantly freezes up for a few minutes while chugging away on some Norton task.
I don’t want to remove it and have no protection, but this is unacceptable. Is there a way to configure it for bare-bones virus protection that is dramatically less resource intensive? I have a Norton account for another year, is switching to a different product a better alternative? Please be specific in your response, and thanks for your help!
I want to fully protect my computer and need some advice
I will be using the computer at a University next year
Should I get an Internet security suite (ZoneAlarm or Bit Defender)
or should I just go with Bit Defenders Antivirus and use windows defender with a spyware software like spybot?
suggestions?
I want to base my decision off of which choice will keep my laptops system resources for my use—-not for the security running in the background
My computer has an Intel Core 2 Duo processor T5300 (1.73 GHz, 533MHz) and a 2GB DDR2 System Memory and a 160GB 5400RPM hard drive. will CA internet security suite 2007 work on my computer?
The background saids warning you're in danger your computer is infected with spyware . And i already have the ca internet security suite and my ca security suite doesnt appear and the internet does not work .HELP ME Please what should i do!
when starting the computer, a message from zone alarm will appear to buy the internet security suite. how to disable this annoying pop ups when there is no disable button?
I was going to purchase the Norton Internet Security Suite 2007. I want something that handles the latest viruses & everything else.
I went to read some reviews & they were 50/50 although some bad ones were from people who did not have enough space on their computer for the program & others seemed to not know too much about computers. I believe I had Mcafee in the past & am wondering for all of those out there who have a product that actually works & works well, please let me know.
I am NOT interested in programs like the spybotenator (made that up). No sales pitched, just honest answers from people who have actually used a great product or a bad one I should stay away from. Thanks
Hi All, I do not want a Free one. I have AVG already. I do not mind paying for it at all. I believe it "you get what you pay for". I want complete security. I have never had a problem, but my father also have AVG & his computer is a Mess.

Is it ok to use an additional anti-spyware program such as (Spysweeper) in addition to the one included in the Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite?
I'm a computer technician. I'm not certified but did get an AS in hardware support and an AS web development. I get handed PCs to fix all the time from my friends, friend's bosses, family members, etc.
Recently I fixed a computer for my friend's boss that was so infected with viruses I had to reinstall windows. First, I had to save some of his pictures, which took forever because the PC was so bogged down.
So basically I just did some minimal data backup, reinstalled windows, and installed a new internet security suite. What would you charge for this?
Every time i try to upload verizon internet security suite from my desktop, a message appears that say "your system must be rebooted before this install or uninstall can take place" i restarted the computer and it still will not install! please help!
Wow, what a bad day I'm having.
I'm facing some probs with my laptop off late, my "D" drive in particular has been giving me probs since sometime now. I have put some games on my D drive and whenever I'm playing them, my laptop just shuts down, without any warning and stuff. Just OFF ! So I thought I'd scan my entire laptop with Kaspersky Internet Security suite, take a backup of all the useful files and then format the whole system.
While the scan was in progress however, the electricity went off and so did my laptop. When the lighs came and I turned it on, I saw that 5GB data of my D drive had vanished in thin air. And its just the D drive that suffered this data loss.
All my important data has just VANISHED !!! I just tried a recovry tool called "GetDataBack for NTFS" but it too didn't detect the 5GB data which I lost.
I'm at my wits end. All that data is very important for me. Please suggest me a solution to this prob. Please temme some application or something
