I have Trend Micro on my computer now but it’s about to expire - was there when i bought it. What’s the best program out there that’s easy to use? I don’t want the free sites, I want to pay for something, install it, and not have to think about it or read the manual to get it working.
I keep seeing that Norton and Kaspersky (sp?) are the best, but not user friendly. Any suggestions? Do you need more than internet security? Does that include anti-virus and anti-spam protection? Help!
I recently bought Kaspersky internet security 2010 for my new computer. But when I installed it, I noticed that my computer booted up very slowly, and it took forever for the desktop to load. I also noticed that it took all my programs a long time to load. I turned off Kaspersky, and everything was fast again. Is there any way to fix this?
zone alarm has an operating system firewall in its program to see what program is using or hijacking another program, then why the fuck does zone alarm itself hijack other programs it hijacked bearshare and after that said bearshare is trying to
steal my bank card, dont use this firewall, use comodo as
a matter of fact i think the xp firewall is better than zone alarm
when i researched both logs xp firewall blocked way more
intrusions than zone alarm, zone alarm only blocked my router
and called that a high severity intrusion, this is crap the only
positive thing about this free trial is it found 1 virus on my pc
that avast couldnt find , but really thats kaspersky because
zone alarm uses them.
I have tried everything from AVG (one of the worst antivirus) to Kaspersky (one of the best). I then have this idea of combining them all. I know that multiple security products on one computer isn’t good, causes system instability, but how about taking a bit from each one? For instance avira’s antivirus(the core only), then AVG antispyware (Ewido, probably the only thing good AVG has), and Zonealarm firewall. I know these won’t conflict because they aren’t in the same category. THey may cause my PC to load slower than usual but I think security is more important. I’ve come up with a list of stuff:
Avira Antivir (the core of the free version for antivirus protection)
AVG antispyware (for antispyware protection which includes rookit and trojan detection)
Avast Network Shield (for network protection, this isn’t a firewall, the web shiled is)
Zonealarm Firewall
This is my combination for a full internet scurity suite, I don’t like Comodo’s free one. PLease answer this is you are a professional and don’t answer just for points or I will report you. Keep in mind that I know more security than u do.
I have a licensed copy of Kaspersky Internet Security 2009. This software is making temporary files in "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Kaspersky Lab\AVP8\Data" folder. Any idea how to resolve this issue .. as this is consuming space and making the windows process slow.
Thank you.

i have eset smart security. I know kaspersky and g-data are the best and update more often but eset i know is close becuase of it heuretics. Should i feel safe with what i got or should i consider to upgrade because the rate of detection is really that much better? i know on pc world it rates kaspersky as quite better but both the version of the review of eset smart security(acutally is nod32) on their and kasperksy is older versions then now. do you think kaspersky has taken off from eset or do you think eset has caught up or do you think the difference between them are about the same as last time? Should i feel safe with eset smart security? is it better then when nod32 was tested and has it caught up to kaspersky and g-data if not how close has it gotten to them?
dont try to insult windows in front of me i am a compsci major and very computer savy i know the insides and outs of all operating systems and considering i have spent many years on developing software and developing websites and servers i know mac and linux are secure but are generation behind developement of microsoft in compatibility i would rather wast 10% of my processing power to make up for the security problems in windows with a virus protector then be incompatible with most software out their. incompatibility is not a way of security for me but if it is for you have fun with word processing and fire fox. and old compilers.
i agree but thier reviews are of older versions of both virus software i am wondering if any one has information on the new software from both companies eset and kaspersky and wondering if they are both reliable and if they are still the best and how secure both of them are?
and elena is any of those os fully compatible with my 7800gtx gpu i dont think so learn your facts before you make your computer incompatible with the world. if it was compatible with every thing and many people used it many of us compsci geeks would make viruses to exploit the weeknesses in linux too, to make linux have to update their security problems to but no one does becuase low population uses it. and the other half of the developers know they cant get much information off of the 20% of people on linux when they can attack 48% on windows. but trust me if they wanted to they could exploit the weeknesses of linux very easily especially that it is open source they see everything the only good thing is that you will have more updates quicker because it is open source but it would be just as big as a battle.
great i will test it out with awft and if it is week i will disable the firewall or just install the simple nod32 wich also have and install a strong single firewall i would switch to kaspersky but i dont have the subscription to that and i get eset products for free through my school. but if i have to for firewall protection i would switch thanks though.
do you think Norton AntiVirus, Internet security, and anti-spyware products for the home is Solutions to manage IT risk and maximize IT performance for business

I need to add a anti-virus, anti-spyware, and firewall to my computer. In the past I used avg, kaspersky and avira. Windows defender(windows live one care) used too much cpu. I used Zone alarm and Commando in the past for firewalls.
What is a good anti-virus, anti-spyware, and firewall? I prefer something free and with a sound when a virus is found.
Okay i have The Shield Deluxe 2008 Anti-Virus (Look it up and it is rated #1) It detected these things:
A few Invaders
Trojan-Downloader
Win32 Virus
Hidden Data sending
No controll over security (let more viruses in)
I scanned with these virus programs:
Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0
Norton 2008
McAfee
Panda
AVG
Avast
CA
The Shield Deluxe 2008
Trend Micro
NOD32
Bitdefender
They all detected Very Bad viruses/maleware/spyware
People have been saying it doesnt have a virus, well it even has a virus in the gamegaurd and the forums.
Its a whole load of them!
Don’t believe me? get the trial version of Kaspersky or any other good virus program and re-download SF.
BTW: my computer worked fine and when i downloaded SF its been shutting down frequently with a blue screen that is blank.
PS: my last question about an alternate link i left the internet open and brother deleted it thinking it was funny
I don’t care about price. But I am looking for a computer security suite with these features:
~Anti-Virus
~Anti-Malware
~Anti-Spyware
~Anti-Adware
~Anti-Phishing
~Anti-Spam
~Ad Blocker
~Protective, yet "hands-off" firewall
~Computer scanning
~Frequent (automatic) updates
~Advanced customization
~Any other features to keep my computer safe
~Use little computer resources
I heard from various sources that…
ESET Smart Security Home Edition V3.0
Kaspersky Internet Security 2009
Symantec Norton 360 2.0
are the best programs. But which one is the best? I only want one, all-encompassing security program to run on my computer. Any help would be greatly apprehensive.
Wow … I specifically state suite in the question and details and the first answer avoids it like a car accident. So hard to find a good, unbiased answer now days…
Ahh man, ZoneAlarm looks good too .. now I’m really confused.
G DATA AntiVirusKit provides a double layer of protection, bundling both the Kaspersky and BitDefender antivirus engines under a single, easy-to-use console. The use of these engines offers an important advantage to AVK.
How good is it ?
Computer #1 (Desktop):
-Two years old
-1.87 GB of RAM
-380 GB of disk space
-32 bit Operating System
-Microsoft Vista Home Premium
Computer #2 (Desktop):
-One year old
-3.87 GB of RAM
-425 GB of disk space
-64 bit OS
-Microsoft Vista Home Premium
Computer #3 (Laptop):
-Six months old
-4.00 GB of RAM
-198 GB of disk space
227 GB of data (D:) space
-64 bit OS
-Microsoft Vista Home Premium
Right now, I am using Norton 360. It’s okay and does not slow my computer that much, even the old one. But it’s still relatively new, and I’ve heard that Norton will eventually ruin my computer, when it gets older.
I’ve been thinking:
Trend Micro Internet Security
Webroot Internet Security
CA Internet Security
McAfee Internet Security
Kaspersky Internet Security
But my laptop does not meet disk space requirements for like all of these.
Any suggestions would be nice too, but no AVG, because that is mad expensive.
I heard that you cnanot use a USB mouse for Kaspersky. I have a USB mouse.
Kaspersky Internet security claims that it secures your data being sent over wifi, does it?
I have to chose between which one and i heard that Zone-Alarm makes the computer lag a lot but it has a lot of feartures. I haven’t checked out anything about Kaspersky yet but i hope that’s also good. I already tried Nod32, Norton, Mc Afree and is currently using Avast! Home Edition.
