right, ive had a blackberry for a few years, but it was locked to orange, i switched to tesco mobile at the beginning of the year and ive since had my blackberry unlocked and even though i have an internet package with tesco mobile (the £30 a month, everything included tariff) for some reason it wont let me access the internet, it keeps coming up with the message,

"you are not currently in an area that can handle data communication. as a result, the browser cannot receive any web pages"

ive tried it all over and i get exactly the same the message, ive read a few forum posts and it mentions something about blackberry internet service (BIS) being needed.. is this true?

are there any third party applications that i can download and run with my blackberry?

its a blackberry curve 8320, just in case anyone was wondering.

oh, ive tried contacting O2 and they cant do anything, because even though its their network basically, they arent the named provider if you get me? and cause of the contract and data protection yadayada, they cant do anything about it. and tesco dont run a blackberry service on tesco mobile.

TJM - fyi - we do that already! This is something to take away and reflect on. We have several services so it would be a little inpractical to round up the 50 or so people who are active in the church to meet and greet every newcomer at every service. Probably overwhelming and I, for one, could never remember every face and name of that many people! I think that might put people off if a crowd of people descended on you at once, don’t you?

For my I.T homework I am doing a report for ‘new employees’ about the above acts and how they can avoid breaking them. Can anyone out there give me any pointers about the acts, possibly bullet points about how they affect office workers and perhaps a little definintion. new feature found on my personal computer after visiting friend had access. this friend is a computer security and data collection expert who gave me his old computer and updates it."thinkvantage access connections" also appears to be added on where i didn't see it before. Please could you help me. I added a new user and deleted two users on Friday using the security wizard then modified a DB. When I tried to open one of my DB this morning I was not prompted to enter user name and password as normal just DB password then an error message came up that 'I did not have the necessary permissions to use the DB and have the administrator or person who created this object set the necessary permissions for you'. I am the administrator for all my DBs (I have 5 in total). The DB are stored on a network and IT restored my DBs from previous night and this still has not worked is there any way of fixing this I have ten years worth of data in some of these DBs.

The school is conducting 'random' searches on pupils laptops that have mostly been bought privately. A few have been bought through the school, but still, would this not mean that the laptop was owned by the pupil?

I work in the document management industry and my company is moving towards working with doctors and lawyers to manage their business systems. Due to the sensitive nature of this work and our customers content, how can we get are company approved or recommended in that we follow strict security guidelines when dealing with our customers data? Is there a national body that we could apply to? This would also be a great stamp of approval for our marketing material to show that we are secure to deal with if you have sensitive data.
