What does G-Data Backup do? Is it the same as Backup and Restore in Windows? And if all it does is backup your files, where does it do this? On a CD/DVD? Or on the same hard drive as where they are? Or is it some kind of special folder protected by G-Data where the backed-up files are stored? Please help me, I’m kind of confused with this thing, and I don’t want to accidentally kill my computer. (I’m saying that because I’m have a pretty fast HP gaming laptop, and G-Data almost destroyed my computer a few seconds ago. It uses SO MUCH memory that I had to quit like 20 processes in Task Manager before I could even type something. In fact, I totaled up all of its processes up in Task Manager, G-Data alone uses over 120,000 K!!!)
I have some things I want to erase so I can have more memory on it, so I have it on my pc to delete the files off of it, yet, there’s no option even to delete them nor does it work when I pres "DEL" on my keyboard… I don’t have it on "Lock"(the SD card).. I tried moving it to a different file off the SD card but it says "The disk is write-protected. Remove the write-protection or use another disk." I’m not sure what this even is…help?
My brother thinks it’s funny to format all data on our Wii and lose everything we have. If he figures out how to get into my system’s memory, I want to have a backup for all of my purchases. Are they saved on XBOX.com on my account or maybe Windows Live, or are they not and go away if deleted?
I have a surveillance camera that stores video in an SD card. Does anyone know how much memory I’d need on the SD card (in GB or MB) to record for at least 20 hours?
Thanks in advance!
The computer is giving me the blue screen of death (error 0×0000007f). It loops and I can’t fix it. I’ve tried almost everything. Im to the point where I’ve already reinstalled windows on another hard drive and Im ready to pull data off my old hard drive. The old hard drive contains all of my Outlook Express files but I don’t know how to recover them and make them functional in my new Windows Environment. The link below gives a step by step tutorial but I don’t know how to copy registry files from a hard drive that isn’t the one with the running OS. http://www.insideoutlookexpress.com/backup/clone.htm
Is this possible?
I’ve scanned the HD for bad sectors and also the memory on the computer. Copying the .mbx files is a good tip. What about the address book? It seems as though you have to make registry changes, so how do I get them?

If you could give me some good ideas on how to upgrade it. I am not looking to hack into the Social Security data base so I don’t want to spend thousands of dollars to have a warlock of a machine. I am already planning to put the other 8GB of memory in it to max it at 16GB ram. I am also thinking of having a tv tuner installed and getting a second TB harddrive.
Also please list sites where I can get whatever. The only two I know of are
tigerdirect.com
newegg.com
CA Security Suite is too large for my memory. I cannot afford buying anything right now.
I have two Xbox 360 systems in two different parts of my house. I would like to transfer game data to my newer system in my entertainment room because it has more memory. But the stupid license protection does not allow me to do this.
If I use the Xbox data migration cable to transfer the data, will it allow me to move everything to my newer system’s hard drive without dealing with the license lock out?

Will it use much more memory?I have 2GB of RAM
It has come to my attention that certain rootkits evade detection by hiding in an HDD’s Host
Protected Area or in the Device Configuration obverlay area, both of which are generally not visible to the user. Hdparm and other tools such as the Sleuth kit (as well as some physical write blockers used by computer forensics professionals) supposedly let you disable both the HPA and the DCO, meaning that it should be possible to securely wipe all your data, including viruses, worms, trojans, rootkits, etc.
My question is as follows: is it possible for some piece of malware to infect a user’s graphics card, motherboard, memory, etc? I know that ClamWin has the ability to scan memory for malicious programs, but is there any chance some of these programs are somehow hiding in any of the non-HDD components, lingering in obscure hidden areas of one’s motherboard or graphics card or whatnot.
My computer is running WinXP professional, and is just fine. But today I started it, and it start to show some kind of message that saying that Data Execution Prevention has closing program "LogonUI". From what I know, LogonUI is a program that handle Windows login information. I click on the "close message" button, and Windows display an "illegal operation and we are sorry to close your application" window (also a standard operation after DEP window).
But the crazy thing is that LogonUI is an essential service run by Windows, and it WON’T turned off!!! Everytime it’s turned off, it loaded itself to memory, and that makes DEP turned it off again, which makes it loaded itself again, and so on. It’s not something so emergency, but it just bugged me off.
I have tried to turn off DEP protection on LogonUI program, but it has no effect. DEP still keeping close my LogonUI. Can someone suggest some information on how to overcome this problem? Thanks!
I recently reinstalled windows MCE, on my C drive , over the corrupted windows MCE, due to some system files screwup that was bothering.
I did not format C drive .. I just reinstalled , over and let the installation do the cleaning.
as i had my data on the drive, and no way to back it up…
Now everytime i click a folder or drive it takes time to open up, it shows me that hour glass. Its like it is changing file permissons or something.
The only other thing i suspect is the firewall antivirus - which i switched from Norton to Zone Alarm 6, Internet security suite.. (this has some component level firewall)
the HDD is NTFS format.. its a fairly good laptop, bought recently.
can i rectify it.. ?
UltraDMA mode 5, write caching enabled for drive.
cpu util is <5-10% , memory is 1gb, with normally 400 mb used up .
no spyware. No suspicious proceses, No unessary processes.
Note: this acess is faster at second time.
Hdd is defraged, 50% space available
External and internal both are behaving same.
I suspect file permissions on NTFS.
cause i see a ?<number> user in the permissions for folders and drives.. which i believe is of my previous - before install login ID
I’ve got an LG Musiq from Sprint that I intend on recycling in the future, as I am no longer a Sprint member. I need to clear all the data from it, but the phone has a 4-digit lock code set on it that I don’t remember ever setting, so as a result I cannot get into the Security menu to do a full format of the phone’s memory. Is there a way to clear off the whole phone without knowing the lock code?
Im using a Clone PC, Intel Pentium 4, 512mb memory, 80 gb hard disk, ATI Radeon 256 mb video card. It records for at least 15 hours, and when i get back to the computer, its like it rebooted because it is in the welcome screen. OS used is windows xp
The updates take up so much memory so I wanted to delete all updates except the most recent one.
hi.
I have a kingston data traveler and I can’t add any file or format it. I don’t know what has happened to it but it says it has write protection.
how can I remove the protection?
I can’t even format thew memory!!!!
There was no CD or utility on the cooldisk. I am totly mixed up!
For example, if an employer wanted to go back and look at something that happened months back. Would the footage still be there? Is the memory kept on a disc? Or is it erased after a certain time?
