I made the switch from norton to zone alarm security suite yesterday and i’ve experienced 2 blue screens since. my zone alarm is compatible with my vista so i don’t know what’s wrong. should i go back to norton?
I didn;t remove Live Update because it said it shouldn’t be removed while there’s still other symantec programs in use. i’m not sure what these programs are, so i’m really confused. should i just uninstall zone alarm, reinstall norton, and see if there’s any more blue screens?

My labtop been acting up every since my norton ran out and now every time i try to hook up my mp3 it wont play it will just turn off. It works on my computer just fine.

OK so, if I purchase a 1-year subscription of Norton, and I backup my data on their site, what happens to it when my subscription expires? Do I lose my data too?
Now why would you say Norton is stupid? What don’t you like about them? I currently have McAfee and I hate how it will block my friend’s pictures of his family, yet it won’t block all the (more or less) Porn ads from sites. its RETARDED!! So please expound. Thank you.

i get on, and as soon as my computer boots up this window thing pops up. It says i have 17 known threats on my computer. I have 2 virus programs; norton and superantispywear. Does anyone know why this happens?

norton sucks. i really hate it. why can’t hp put a better antivirus like avira or g-data? i always have to uninstall the norton whenever i buy new computer and then install g-data

My new i7 build will be complete in a week or so and I have come to the point where i must find a way to protect it.

This is a build for heavy gaming and all my school work, which is a lot. All the security suites out there have a mixed bag of opinions that are for and against them.

I am looking for one of those "total care" kind of things.

Price is no matter here. I can pay what i need to.

The things coming up often are:

Norton 2010

Kaspersky 2010

G-Data

nod32

AVAST

bitdefender

Mcafee

I have never used any of these before and I don’t know which is best.

What do you guys suggest and please give a reason.

Well i have norton official product on my computer and every time i open it is says about online backup thing. The fact is that i dont want to do that because i don`t want anyone having my files which i believe they don`t have any right to have my data in their pc. What should i do stop seeing that message exept from deleting norton because that`s the next step

I have Trend Micro on my computer now but it’s about to expire - was there when i bought it. What’s the best program out there that’s easy to use? I don’t want the free sites, I want to pay for something, install it, and not have to think about it or read the manual to get it working.

I keep seeing that Norton and Kaspersky (sp?) are the best, but not user friendly. Any suggestions? Do you need more than internet security? Does that include anti-virus and anti-spam protection? Help!

I’ve been using AVG Free for over a year. I recently updated to version 9. It scans every day. All seems well. In the last two days, in the last 5 times of opening my computer I immediately see an urgent message from the ’security center’, that I do not have virus protection and have 42 threats, 3 critical. I try to remove them and can only do it if I buy the program. No, thanks. I check AVG. It tells me all is well. One security shield on the tool bar shows a white cross on red. Next to it is a blue and grey security shield. If I go to the security shield via the control panel all is well. I tried to remove this ‘Security Center’ program but even tho it says it is a trial program is says it is not removable. What’s going on? Suppossedly my internet provider, Cox Cable also has virus protection, Norton. So I don’t know what or which program to believe.

Whenever i click on fix now it says failed to initialize norton live update. It says that i need these definition updates because i may be more vulnerable to viruses. i have 289 days of subscription left. I need answers from those who know what they are talking about. Thank you

How do I add it to the second computer in my house?

Should I renew online or buy a new product? I’m using Norton, and I can’t find the answer on their website.

I heard that the less tool bars you have on your browser page means faster response times when clicking on a new page of data.I have five total:
1.Navigation
2.Yahoo
3.Stumble upon (which is required if you want to use it)
4Roboform
5 Norton (Phishing protection)

I get a message asking me to be sure that my computer connected to the internet each time I tried to activate the norton 360 anti virus software that iI just bought. And, as a matter of fact, my computer is connected to the internet, and I also made sure that my firewall is turned off. Please can someone help me. I have less than 9 days to activate it.

so far only avast, g data, avg and avira have been able to do that. mcafee, norton, comodo, microsoft security essentials, etc etc could not do anything to block a bad website. for example fake antivirus — only avast, avira, avg and g-data block it.

Are there any more antivirus that have such website blocking ability?

I ask this as I am planning on buying security this weekend, but I don’t know a whole lot about this kind of thing. I am just a generall computer user, i do have a website and spend a lot of time online and send a lot of Emails if this helps.

I have heard of Norton and AVG but thats as far as my knowledge on the subject goes, I would really appreciate some feedback.

well, i’ve seen people use McAfee (my school computer system), Norton, and Big Fix. On the internet, people have suggested Avira AntiVir, Comodo’s BOClean, Spybot, Zone Alarm, AVG Anti Virus, Avast, and Kaspersky. Some people said McAfee is bad. Some said Norton is one of the worst. SOOOO, i need your help. which one of these do you think is the best and works the best??? thanks! =D

ohhh and if you know any security programs that are not listed here and you think are VERY VERY good, then plz do suggest. thanks very much =DD

So im getting my new computer tomorrow (yay!) and i was wondering whats a really good security program that wont clog up my computer?
I know that Norton is the devil…
I was looking at Trend Micro stuff (cause thats what my parents use, Trend Micro Internet Security)
I was also looking at AVG.

I surf the web and download stuff a lot so i want something that will work well, but is also somewhat light in RAM usage and overall size.
Something easy to use would be preferable.

Thanks!!

I think I uploaded it accidentally, and now it says my computer is infected, and to install some stuff that I definitely am NOT going to install.

I have Symantec Endpoint Protection, and Norton PC Checkup, and Windows Defender. Are any of those going to do the job??

If not, can I download something for free?

I am freaking out, so replies are very, very welcome!

Thank you!

I am wondering which virus protection is best. Norton, Mcafee, or I have also wondered about Stop Sign anti virus/spyware.

I have downloaded Yahoo Anti-Spy.
Do I need to have other security systems installed such as Norton, McAfee, Webroot etc. in order to have my computor totally protected from hackers, I.D. theft etc.
