is there a database that is really simple to use, can be used with java, and doesn’t require you to set up a server.
There are no security issues with the data that is to be stored, so its fine for it to be not secure.
I just want it to work on one system and be accessible to the applications that i create(all the applications are in java). I may also distribute the software so i must be able to package the database system with my application into a jar file so that they can be used together on the system that the java application is used on.
I am a novice when it comes to databases, so please respond appropriately.

PLEASE someone HELP !
When i turn my PC on, it goes through the following sequences :
Checking file system on C: The type of the file system is NTFS.
CHKDSK is verifying files ( stage 1 of 5 )…
file verification completed.
CHKDSK is verifying indexes ( stage 2 of 5 )…
indexes verification completed.
CHKDSK is verifying security descriptors( stage 3 of 5)
security descriptor verification completed.
CHKDSK is verifying Usn journal…
Usn journal completed.
CHKDSK is verifying file data ( stage 4 of 5 )…
file data verification completed.
CHKDSK is verifyig free space ( stage 5 of 5 )
free space verification completed.

Now, after going through the above sequential process, the screen shows
the familiar
WINDOWS XP prompt as if it is about to Launch Windows Xp BUT it
doesn’t… the whole process as listed above starts all over again ! it goes on over and over again - the same ‘groundhog day’ scenario !! today is the 3rd day
running
has occured after I downloaded and ran a REGISTRY CLEANER software with
DEFRAG etc. maintenance. Now, I’ve tried F8 to run XP on SAFE MODE ..also tried ‘ on F8 ‘LAST KNOWN CONFIGURATION THAT WORKED’ prompt..NOTHING—also I have no Xp CD’s .it comes back to the above sequence over n over again. I am a NOVICE at these things with limited computer knowledge cab anyone tell me what to do PLEASE

I am a novice Linux server admin (I can us SSH, vi, cron, and understand config files), but I am willing to learn. However, I do not have hundreds of hours to research and learn all the ins-and-outs of Linux. I need something fairly turnkey:

What is the best server software that will do all or most of the following:
- POP3 server
- SMTP server
- Webmail server (with good standard features, like WYSIWYG editor, attachments, etc.)
- Web-based end-user configuration tools
- Anti-virus
- Anti-spam (blacklists and whitelists & RBL support required, spam filtering logic a plus)
- Authentication data stored in a database for easy management.
- POP-before-SMTP authentication

Similarly, I need to pick the best Linux OS to run this puppy on. I would like an OS with a wizard install, and one with adequate security for a publicly accessible server.

Last of all, it would be great if all of the above would be freely available for commercial use.

Thanks for your help!

Could a novice person be able to set up a computer wired/wireless security camera device?

I want to set up several cameras in my house wirelessly connected to my computer that can record and I can watch if I want to "off site" with another computer.

Can I do it myself or should I have someone come and set it up?

If I can do it myself, can you give me any advise on a book or video on how to do it?
