I feel like there is someone walking by around my house, like he is an intruder playing with something like my wiring, my alarm system etc. But i don’t know. I’m sixteen and i am home alone and every time I’m home alone i feel like there is someone out there. -its really dark outside.

So i’m embarrassed to call 911 because i don’t want them to think i am hallucinating and i don’t want my parents to say that i can’t bear staying home alone. Could call for patroll or something, because most likely when the cops arrive the intruder would run away. Could i call a cop to keep watch overnight. Or do they just come and go?
I don’t have fear of being home alone, I really think there is someone out there. My question was can i call the cops and let them make sure there is no one there by standing for a while.

So looking for good computer security not Norton, that is good for non mac computers?
what would the best anti virus be to go with?
its not for my computer as I got a mac but my parents are using windows XP and vista so for those what would the best be.

If phone lines and alarm wires were running into a house through a little metal pipe, then it would be a lot harder for a might-be burglar or other invader to cut those lines while trying to stop their victim(s) from calling the police or trying to stop their victims’ alarm systems from calling that dispatcher. That should be painfully obvious to the people installing the lines. Why don’t they do it that way, then?

It doesn’t matter who owns the wiring. What matters is who installs them, and how they do it. Who pays for the lines has nothing to do with whether or not the phone company could start off by installing the lines via conduit. The same with the alarm company.

And don’t be the guy who says something like, "Maybe if the burglar can’t cut your phone lines, he’ll just kill you instead," since that wouldn’t make sense, because then I would respond with this:

"Well, what if you’re NOT HOME for the burglar to kill? The alarm could still call the company if the wires were in a conduit that was hard to cut. And even then, sometimes burglars cut phone and/or alarm lines to make it easier for them TO come in and STILL try to kill you. But if they can’t cut the phone line first, then you might still get a 911 call out in time."

So, now, when you answer, consider the potential pitfalls I just steered you around. Okay?

Will you come back periodically to see if I have any follow-up for your answers, and then RErespond with follow-up to my follow-ups, please? Thanks, if so.
Okay, Hydroace and DT Warwick,

My real name’s Mike.

Actually, I’m surprised that they would just bury the wire without putting it in a pipe, anyway, just because of the tilling, etc. But I think it’s more than 2 inches deep where my parents live ( a lot of tilling got done there).

Isn’t that cable–from the box or pole–thicker than just the line that runs around in your house, and seriously, wouldn’t it be more than 2 inches deep (and if not, why not)?
Yeah, I’m not really talking about pipe all the way from the house to the phone box or pole (although that would be ideal). I just meant one little pipe that goes from a few feet below the surface of the ground (so a thief would have to dig around in the ground to find the bottom where the cable comes out), or from the top of the roof, into the house’s point of entry with an elbow that gets sealed in (at least in the case of the phone line). Why would one little piece of pipe just a few or several feet long (not many yards way out to the street) cost so "too much" for the phone company to decide to afford when they install it–just the one straight pipe a few feet or so long?
Yeah, Hydro, I’m talking about where the cable was buried at the lower depth because it was the original installation.

Why not just take it up a metal pipe from that depth where it meets the house, up to the box, and then lock the box? That little bit of pipe wouldn’t cost much, and it would slow a potential thief or other attacker down considerably, wouldn’t it?

If ya’ll are a little puzzled, it’s because my friend set me up for getting caught with my parents, so I’m stuck behind an alarm. It was all my mom’s idea. My dad cut me a deal, and said if you can get past it, we’ll take it off. He’s that kind of cool guy. Any help?

Please no freakin lectures like”you shouln’t be doing those types of things young man;”
I just want straight answers at least 10 solutions, of how to sneak out when you’re already in, and how to get back in.

Water absorbs microwaves right?
And if you bathe your blanket in icy coldwater then it should be able to get past thermal sensors right?

I’m 19 years old and I live with my parents, It’s a tradition in the asian culture to live with your parents after you’re 18. Yesterday, someone smashed my family’s mailbox and my father discovered that the mailbox is damaged a few minutes ago. My sister said someone also banged on our front door when she was home alone yesterday. We have an burgular alarm but we are wondering if that will keep us safe. What should we do ?

Hey so I am 14 years old and my parents had to go on a business trip for three days so I had to stay home alone. They gave me money for food and stuff and it would have been fun…

Anyways the night before they left I was at a party and I got in a fight with this girl I hate so much named Jane.

Then yesterday night it was dinner time and yes I was home alone. I was making fajitas for dinner and then I was in the living room making fajitas. The doors were locked. Then I think I saw someone in our backyard.

But I thought it was nothing.

Anyways then someone rang the doorbell but I left it. Then someone busted the door open! OK they didnt break it, they just hit it really hard and it opened and it smashed into the wall. It made a loud noise but the alarm didn’t get triggered because I did not activate it.

I ran into the kitchen behind the counter super quick and someone walked right into my house! I was so scared I tried to reach up to grab the phone but then the person would have seen me!

So I opened a drawer and took out a frying pan. Then I peeked and saw the person wander into the living room. They were wearing all black and a ski mask. And black heels and they had blond hair sticking out so it had to be a girl! I got up and I also picked up a knife in case.. so I thought I would just walk over to the phone in the living room, threaten the person with the knife and call the cops or something……… but I was so nervous. The person was looking at some of the stuff on our mantel. Anyways I went up behind them and they screamed and grabbed something and threw it at me. They ran and I threw the frying pan at them and I was worried and I just ran past them and in pure self defense I stabbed them in the thigh and like 1/4 of the knife went in.

They ran out with the knife in their leg screaming….

but then I tried to figure out who it was.

The scream was JANES SCREAM.

The hair looked JUST LIKE JANES!

They sorta acted like Jane even though I couldnt tell.

Also on Janes facebook someone wrote: "Jane I hope you get better soon after that …. you know at …. you knows house!!!"

So I am 100% sure it is Jane.

What should I do?

thx I owe you one!!!

Last night someone turned on the water faucet that is behind the shrubs. So, someone had to be scoping out the house my parents or "Mother" called the cops because she believed it was something serious. They found a golf club! Im guessing this person was going to beat whoever came out to check it out but punk out or we waited too long to even know that the water was even on. I heard it but didn’t think much about it and my sister thought it was raining lol.

I have been told by parents to test the network after a short scare. I need software which tries to crack/hack both types of encryption without any source data (like key or similar) needed. It needs to work with vista and a ralink (no idea what model but supports N both 2,4 and 5ghz) wireless adaptor. I will post my computers wireless adaptor too.

Please post instructions or links to them if possible. Both free and paid. Thanks in advance

Alright, well I’m a good student, love school, and who gets good grades and I haven’t missed a day of school because i just felt like it. I think I was only absent once this year, and that was because of a field trip. I’ve barely missed any school in my life, besides when I was really sick, afraid of the fire alarm in 3rd grade and last year because of my little cousin’s death. Even then I went to school the day right after, even though it was hard, because I didn’t want to miss anything. Anyways, I really want to stay home. Not just because I don’t want to go to school, but because I am stressed out, haven’t slept all night, have loads of homework to do and study, that if I don’t finish I’ll fail, which I already am in Chemistry. Heck, I’ll even clean and avoid the computer. I’ll admit that I shouldn’t have procrastinated, it’s just a bad habit I have that I can’t get rid of. Ugh. And I doubt my parents want me to fail. Is this a good enough reason to stay home?
Well the test I need to study for is a make-up test on Tuesday, so I already know everything on it. And knowing my chemistry teacher, we’re not going to learn anything, or well she’ll attempt to teach, but because of her lack of teaching skills and overall weirdness, she won’t explain anything to us. And the homework that I have is an AP Assignment and our grade is basically made up of our assignments and our tests. I quickly can catch onto things if I miss anything. I’m already staying after for Chemistry Tuesday anyways. The only things we would be doing in AP Euro is either working on a review sheet for our test on Wed. or notes which are easy to get and understand. Thankfully I have good friends who are all good students so if I do miss anything, they’ll fill me in.

Has anyone heard of Peace of Mind Family Daycare in Fall River, Ma?
I am looking for a family childcare in Fall River Ma? I am very interested in Peace of Mind Family Daycare because of the video surveillance offered to parents for veiwing. I have a infant and worry about who will care for her. I have study the web site information www. peace of mind family daycare .com I like what I have seen, next is the interveiw. Can anyone help with questions. Thank you

This morning I woke up to the sound of keys turning in my door lock. Then I heard doors opening in my house and footsteps, but by the time I got out of my room I heard the entrance door closing. Then I saw that the lock was broken in two. I notified the police, of course. I just never thought that this could happen to me. I live in an apartment at the 3rd floor in a 6 story building. The entrance door is made of thick wood, and only has one key lock, no other locks. No alarm, no camera. I have a bad feeling that the burglars might return again in a few days. How can I make my home safe from burglars? Please give me all the tips you can think of. Right now I’m trying to convince my parents to buy a metal door with several locks and alarm, but my dad seems carefree and only wants to buy an extra lock rather than change the door. I think it would be worth it though. I’m thinking of buying a pepper spray as well.
Actually, they didn’t use a copy key to break it. They must have used a big instrument because the lock was pulled out of the door and broken in the middle.
opinionatedmedic: I totally agree with you, but try convincing my parents of that lol. They’ve never let me keep a dog in our flat, and believe me I’ve brought puppies here at least 3 times…

My parents got an Alarm system From APX its a wireless LYNX system
but in my house there are 3 doors and 6 windows to protect (on the 1st floor)
and on the first floor they put in 3 door sensors and a motion detector
and on the 2nd floor just put a glass break sensor in one room and a glass break sensor in another room
will this be enough protection?
they are normal windows that slide up and down

My parents never set it until I got grounded and so now they have began to again. Okay, so tonight I was REALLY risky and I actually disarmed the system to get out. (I tried to cover up the thing with a pillow and blankets but the sound still sort of got through) And yeah. I guess I could keep doing that…but I would like a way to get out that is easier. I won’t be home alone so I can test this again until school starts again (January 5th) so can someone tell me if maybe placing something over the alarm control thing by the door would help more??? I turned on the shower when I came back and was arming it again so maybe that helped….

Ughhh. Help mee? I have been trying to read up on this particular alarm system but there isn’t really that much on it.

And btw, I like to go out my window so yeah. I guess I could go out the front door but I would MUCH MUCH MUCH rather use the window….

Oh and I heard that there are two things in the window that would make it go off and if I separate those two things so that they don’t line up that I have just bypassed it for my window…is that true? I dunno if that is for this particular alarm system or not.

Please answer back soon I have to leave tomorrow night.
Haha, already quit that stuff, thanks.
