I’m wanting to install a home security camera/DVR system. Good info seems hard to come by. I am temped to try the x10 wireless, (easiest looking solution), and also I do have one location that I would like to include, (outside building), that has AC power, but I can not get a wired (video) connection to . Does anyone have a recommendation between the x10 systems and the bundled systems, (First Security etc, Sams Club), type hard wired systems. Is there a good up to date reference book about this ? I have an attic and cellar, although it’s difficult at my age to do much, (wiring/crawling), in the confined attic space. Does anyone have an opinion about image quality/distance transmission of the x10 system ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. THANK-YOU in advance for your help !!
I have a webcam that i would like to use as a security camera in my home. Is there some type of wireless USB adapter i can use instead of running the wires in my home??
we are finishing our basement and i am thinking of putting a security camera down there to help keep and eye on my preschool aged son when i’m upstairs. how big of an area can one camera watch? will i be able to hook it up to my TV or computer to watch? are they pretty easy to install? if it has zoom or pan/tilt, how do i control these? a joystick?

Can somone please help me!!!!!!!! i want to run my rca security camera’s to every tv in my house(on a certain channel) and all my coaxial splitters are all in my basement storage room. So what i did is bought a rf modulator and connected my rca security camera to it and ran a coaxial to the output of that to the first input of the coaxial splitters , but when i turn the rf modulator on it makes all the channels staticy besides the one the rf modulator is switched too(channel 3 or 4) i want to watch regular tv and swith to a cannel or input to see the camera’s PLEASE SOMEONE REAL SMART HELP ME!!! THERE HAS TO BE SOMEBODY OUT THERE THAT KNOWS THIS, AND IF YOU DO, YOUR THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m completely fed up with the delinquent behavior of our neighbors. Drunken party guests running through our yard at 1am, kids shooting bbs at the car, throwing rocks and breaking a windshield and the cursing at us and denying everything when confronted. We’ve called the cops, but the officer didn’t do anything.

We live in a nice neighborhood and recently we have had some trouble… Had to change front door locks because someone (unknown) messed with it and it broke. Someone (unknown) stole our birds that are hanging on a wall outside front door in cage. We have security (brinks) system with signs out front and we arm it. Yet wondering if security camera (one from target about 0) would help? would they un bolt it and run with it like the birds?

My mom is retired and goes on many vacation trips. Her house has been broken into 6 times where the neigbor hood she lives at. I live 30 miles away from her and offer to watch her house via internet. Now I want to know how can I set up a spy cam in the front yard facing the front house seeing all who come on the property? I am on a budget and need to know what to buy in order for me to open my laptop and check every so often. Also here are some things I found out about. a PC video capture that would go in to my laptop. A SSc-183 security camera SONY. Now how can both of those work. Will I need to have some kind of box that will link that camera to that PC video capture? Thank for your advice.

I have a security camera connect to a router with an IP address of (192.168.1.122) assigned by the router (192.168.1.1). It’s also assigned Port: 8000 with TCP/UDP checked. I can connect to the cameras through a computer on the network, but when I go home and try to connect through the internet, it’s a no go. Can’t figure out why? Any settings I might be missing?
