I want to make my Data very secure & safe from hackers & unauthorized people, coz my PC is always connected to the internet, so such kind of attacks is possible. My data ( family pics n some important docs)
Security measures which I have taken so for:
•I have installed Zone Alarm Pro Firewall + AVG Antivirus as well.
•Additionally I have encrypted that data via FOLDER LOCK 6.
But I’m still much worried about data steal from Hackers…
Kindly suggest me what should I do to make my data/files stored in my PC’s HDD very much protected, safe & secure.
(Using WinXP Pro SP3)

I am planning to get a home security system and after weighing on my option between a monitored system from a DIY security system, I’ve decided to go for a DIY. I thought it would be more economical for me to do it than having some company do it for me and make me pay for every sweat on their foreheads. My neighborhood is also very peaceful and has not seen crime done for quite some time now. We also live in the better part of the city. I also installed security measures like adding more locks on my doors and windows, installing light sensors to almost every corner in my home, more outdoor light fixtures, more smoke and CO2 detectors, door jambs, even timers…but I do not sleep soundly. I wake up at night worried that somebody might be breaking in. My wife told me that a security system might do the job.

I made a little research and now I am ready to go buy. I saw several ads but I really do not need expensive systems. I looked on amazon, then saw what seems to be good buys on ebay. They offer packages with several door/window alarms, motion sensors, sirens, main panel with auto dialer, etc. and they are wireless. I am refraining a bit from buying now coz I am not sure if these systems are reliable and the sellers trustworthy.

Has anyone bought home security systems from ebay? How are they? The feedback from the buyers are mostly good, but Im still holding back. Any help?

Looking for help. I need to write a paper. Identify early security measures that were used to protect computers and computer data. Can you help to suggest some sources?

guide me basic security measures to secure my data in your PC or laptop.

last year i got a nasty spyware infection so i went out and bought Norton 360 ( big mistake, i think it sucks ) so i called the ” Symantec ” customer support line and told them my problem, they asked for email address and said they would ” take control of my computer ” and remove the infection manually, i declined it after they said would cost to do it.
but it got me to thinking…..
if an absolute computer expert has my email address can they take charge of my pc just like that?
kinda frightening to say the least, how can just that little bit of info allow someone to bypass all of my security measures?
info please!

How can a potential virus get into my e-mail inbox? I did not open–just deleted, so no harm, but I’m perplexed on how it even got that far if I’m so "protected". I have AVG Anti-Virus, Windows Firewall, Spy Bot, SpyWare Blaster, and AdAware, and a potential nightmare still got into my computer. Is this normal??? Any other security measures I should add? Thanks to all in advance.

Say that you have given somebody a personal check in a personal transaction and this person has shown themselves to be questionable down the line; with them now having the routing # and account #, how much does this jeopardize account security? I realize that there is security measures, but they seem rather simple in most cases (mother’s maiden name, etc-it seems that such information can be found easily these days on the internet with personal data websites selling personal info for ), especially in the world that we live in today, where attacks against personal security and privacy are for sale on websites to anybody who can cough up a little bit of money. Should the account just be closed to be safe?

OK, so there’s an option on my phone to do "remote contol" via bluetooth. I went into the "help and support" and it gave me these set of instuctions to find my phone/device:
To open Bluetooth Devices, click Start, click Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Bluetooth Devices.
The passkey and encryption features help to secure your data. However, these and other security measures can be compromised or fail, and, if that happens, your data could be visible to or accessible by other devices or computers within range. Therefore, Bluetooth wireless technology should not be considered completely secure.
To install your Bluetooth device, refer to the instructions that came with the device.
but there is no "bluetooth" section in the control panel or anywhere on my computer.
Any help?

You are the senior manager responsible for security in your firm and have been asked to come up with a plan to address all of the security needs of the organization. The company has a large volume of online transactions, which are critically important to its operations, and has a database which contains a lot of personal information on high profile clients. The firm operates an extensive client server network, which connects to the Internet via a router. It also has extensive collaborative relationships with supply chain partners in which data is widely shared. Describe the security measures you would put in place and explain why you would take the steps described. Finish with a few comments on how these steps would add value to the company.
