I am installing a security system with a 16 ch DVR card. I found a few cards online within my price range. Could you please explain to me what it means for a 16 ch DVR card to have only 4 real-time channels? Does this mean I can only view 4 cameras at a time? Will all 16 channels be able to record simultaneously? Also what are output channels for? I would assume that only input channels would be able to record information from video surveillance cameras. Is this assumption correct?

We moved into a house which has a wired in security system which the previous owner discontinued the monitoring service. Therefore I assume the system is deactivated but every time a door or window is opened the sensors cause a beep at the keypad. At first I thought it was a great way to know when a door or window was being opened but it has become annoying as it sometimes beeps when nothing has been opened. Could someone please tell me how to disconnect the system to remove the beeping noise?

We have 2 dogs. 1 is white, the other black. The white dog lives in the house, we make the boon dog sleep outside tied to a tree. Our slave tried to rob the boon dog’s house. We think the black dog might have been in on it, but we cant prove it. There is only 1 way in and no door, yet the stupid bastards still tried to break in……thats how we know it was the 2 blacks……our dog n slave. Should we get a security system for our dog’s house……even though he’s black, i like him better than our slave…… Now that I think of it, the slave is probably to lazy to try and break in, so it may have actually been all the black dog’s fault……….what do you thinkkk I should do?

i need some ideas for an automated security system for home and office. so far we are implemented a finger print matcher and an automatic camera that starts recording whenever movement is sensed in the room and thereafter a call is placed to a cell phone to alarm the owner.

what are some more modules that we can add to the project.

I have a Guardian Security system in my home, I signed a 3 year contract for monitoring, I called today to cancel the service because my 3 year contract was up and they said it was auto renewed for another 3 years, they said it was somewhere in the fine print, I could continue with them or pay the full 3 year amount in full, help? This is not right.

My house got recently broken into.They took my new flat screen tv and my ps3, I was upset to say the least lol. So it made me want to have some sort of security system in place.

How My house was broken into:
I came home and noticed my fron door was open.I thought i left my door unlocked and the wind blew it open. Then i noticed that the glass on my door was broken. I have a really dumb door with a major security flaw.It is a big wooden door with about 12 small glass panes in the door itself with 4 on each side running vertically.They broke one of the panes near the lock and stuck there hand in and unlocked the door.
I live with my mom and she is the house owner.She dosent feel to atiment or too serious about makeing the house more secure.I say this because she dosent want to fix the main flaw of our security here at the house which would be the big door withabout 12 acess points to break to gain acess to the lock.
My house is set up as to where I have an inside porch.So that means you walk down the block,go up my 10 foot sidewalk to enter my indoor front porch which is fully visible to the street. My Porch door is also a wooddoor with a big pane of glass which has this very sturdy lock.I think this would of maybe prevented it because i doubt there going to break a big peice of glass in full view of the street and other people house. But they came onto the indoor porch because the front front door was unlocked then they came to the big wood door with all those glass panes,broke a pain closest to the lock and walked upstiars and took my ps3 and flastscreeen and i assume drove off.
So this is why im asking my question which is should i go through a company like ADT,Broadview,simplx a company that offers that type of service where the house is monitored at there central location then alert you and the proper emergency service if they detect a problem or should i just build my own system and try and make the house more secure.

1. Should i go with one of those companies? the only benifit is that if i dont secure my doors properly and im not home and the neighbors dont hear it and call that i know the police will be there.

3.For my wooden front door what can i do to make that secure? i heard of deadbolts where you need a key to lock/unlock on both sides,are those real? I want that so if they do break the glass they still cant get in.

I just moved into a new house in Atlanta, GA and want to get a security system installed in my house. I don’t want to get a land line if I can help it, so I’d like to get one that is capable of wireless monitoring. I’d also like to pay less than the per month that so many companies advertise, but I don’t want to pay a ton to have it installed, either. And researching this is driving me crazy because no one will just give me a straight answer on what their systems cost to install and monitor! They all want to send out a "representative" (aka, salesperson) to "evaluate my home security needs" (aka, pressure me to sign a contract and spend lots of money). I know what I need, I just want to find out who can provide it and for how much! I cannot take time off work to wait for some stranger to come walk through my house and tell me what I need. Does anyone know of a security company serving Atlanta that offers good service at reasonable prices without playing games?

I’m writing a story, and I need to know what security system a billionaire would use to protect his home (which houses many expensive artifacts). It doesn’t have to be the *best* security system–on the contrary, it would be better for my story if it were less efficient than other, cheaper brands–but I’m really at a loss as to where to find that information.

Also, if the most expensive security system available *isn’t* the best, please let me know which one is, and the differences between them.

I have a 01 Integra with a Automate AM5 Security system and it keeps going off randomly. I want to disarm the security system but I don’t want to disarm my keyless entry lock/unlock. The manual said something about pressing the lock/unlock button 5 seconds after horns goes off will silence the horn but the system will be in armed state. I tried and it didn’t work. I can careless about the security system but I want to disarm the security and still able to get in my car with my keyless entry. What should I do?

Our neighborhood in Kansas City, MO is normally a safe neighborhood, but some reason burglaries have been on a peak these past two months, with 4 of my close neighbors being robbed, and one of them I witnessed. I need to get a Security system, but places like ADT and Brinks require 3 years contracts, which in the end turn into ALOT of money! This random security system has downloaded into my computer and i can’t find a way to remove it. it wont let me use "ctrl + alt + delete". it wont let me go to certain websites. and i can’t delete it because it says it is being used all the time. help!

On March 23 a sunday while i was at work and my home was burglarized around 3pm by 2 juveniles 1 was caught by police they broke in through a window. I asked the landlord for burglar bars on windows and the doors and a security system he said he would be over on mon. to to have his security guy put in a system he didn’t make it mon.
