If you could give me some good ideas on how to upgrade it. I am not looking to hack into the Social Security data base so I don’t want to spend thousands of dollars to have a warlock of a machine. I am already planning to put the other 8GB of memory in it to max it at 16GB ram. I am also thinking of having a tv tuner installed and getting a second TB harddrive.

Also please list sites where I can get whatever. The only two I know of are

newegg.com

We have started talking about the New Deal in depth and we just got this mini-DBQ (Data Based Question) project with a question and everything but I don’t understand the question at all!
** Historians agree that Social Security is at the heart of New Deal reform. Given that, what does Social Security tell us about the set of policies and programs called the New Deal? **

I have to stay at home to take care of old, disabled relative. It is no longer possible to get along on what we get in social security and disability payments.
I can type, have printer.
I have looked on the net to find work at home jobs, but all I have found want payments for information to go to others places that require payments, etc.
If I had payments I probably would not need a job.
Please help.

I’m disabled for 9 years and receives social security since then. However, I like to do home based business and signed up for a reseller certificate ID to work as retailer with wholesalers. It’s a state sales tax id. Is I’m going to get caught with Social Security finding out that I’m doing this? How do they find out?

My grandfather has late stage alzhiemers. He has social security and medicare/medcaid. The question is, medicare/medicade will pay for him to be institutialized in a nursing home, will my grandmother still recieve his social security check, she would be unable to support herself without it. Thank you.

Interesting data to
remember

Your Social
Security

Just in case some of you young
whippersnappers (&
some older ones) didn’t know this. It’s easy to
check out, if you don’t
believe it.
Be sure and show it to your kids.
They need a little
history lesson on what’s what and it doesn’t
matter whether you are Democrat
or Republican.
Facts are Facts!!!

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the
Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised:
1.) That participation in the Program would be Completely voluntary,

No longer Voluntary

2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first ,400 of their annual Incomes into the Program,

Now 7.65%

3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year.

No longer tax deductible

4.) That the money the participants put into the independent ‘Trust Fund’ rather than into the general operating fund, and therefore, would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program.

Under Lyndon Johnson the money was moved to the General Fund and Spent

5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income.

Under Clinton & Gore

Up to 85% of your Social Security can be Taxed

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to ‘put away’ — you may be interested in the
following:

Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent ‘Trust Fund’ and put it into the general fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically controlled House and Senate.

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

A: The Democratic Party.

Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the ‘tie-breaking’ deciding vote as
President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the US

Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants?

A: Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party.

Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it! Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!

The President and the Democratically controlled Congress have not changed their unconstitutional tax and spend take over. In fact in less than a year they have probably done more to rob us of our liberties and money than all the rest. They have no plans to stop unless we plan to stop them. How many people can YOU send this to?

CONGRESS GIVES THEMSELVES 100% RETIREMENT FOR ONLY SERVING ONE TERM!!! Time for term limits!

A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have. -Thomas Jefferson

1.) After retiring, I went to the Social Security office to apply for Social Security. The woman behind the counter asked me for my driver’s license to verify my age. I looked in my pockets and realized I had left my wallet at home. I told the woman that I was very sorry, but I would have to go home and come back later.

The woman said, "Unbutton your shirt." So I opened my shirt revealing my curly silver hair. She said, "That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me", and she processed my Social Security application.

When I got home, I excitedly told my wife about my experience at the Social Security office.

She said, "You should have dropped your pants… you might have gotten disability, too."

George and John worked together in a Newfie factory and were both laid off. At the unemployment office, George was asked his occupation. "Panty stitcher… I stitch the elastic in ladies’ panties," he replied.
Being unskilled labour, George was given a wage of 0 dollars a week.

John replied, "Diesel fitter", and since this is skilled work he was given 0 dollars a week.

When George found out John was getting 0 dollars a week more than himself, he was furious. He stormed back into the unemployment office and demanded to know why his buddy was getting more.

The clerk explained that panty stitching is unskilled work, whereas diesel fitting was skilled work.

"What skill?!?" yelled George … "I sew the elastic on the panties. John puts them over his head and says, ‘Yep, diesel fitter’".

3.) Dear Mrs. Fenton,
Over the past six months, your husband, Mr. Bill Fenton has been causing
quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this type of behavior and
have considered banning the entire family from shopping in any of our stores.
We have documented all incidents on our video surveillance equipment.
Three of our clerks are attending counseling from the trouble your
husband has caused. All complaints against Mr. Fenton have been compiled
and are listed below.

12. December 6: In the auto department, practiced his “Madonna look” using
different size funnels.
13. December 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browse through,
yelled “PICK ME!” “PICK ME!”
14. December 21: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumes
the fetal position and screams “NO! NO! It’s those voices again!!!!”
(And; last, but not least!)
15. December 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door and waited a while;
then, yelled, very loudly, “There is no toilet paper in here!”

2.)

That way, each person would have a unique number. If someone stole a number, a red flag would go up showing that Mr. Jones in Texas is also working in New York. All they would have to do is to see which Mr. Jones data is the newest and target that guy and remove him from the system. Heck, if the fake Mr. Jones wanted to be the real Mr. Jones then maybe a law should be passed so that the fake Mr. Jones is now responsible for all of Mr. Jones debt for the rest of his life (just place a tattoo on his forehead so that everyone can see that he’s a Mr. Jones wannabe and put a lien an any money he makes ever).

Also, we would never need to do a Census because the Social Security Administration would have all the data they need. (Yes, I know it’s a law…I’m talking about a change in the law that would get rid of the Census in place of this).

Sooooo….this would solve ID theft and would allow the Government to count actual citizens instead of including illegal aliens. I know this might have a hole or two that I haven’t thought about…but if those are fixed…then why not do this?
Oh, I know someone is going to say, "A LOT of people don’t have Social Security cards". What I’m talking about here would be a system that would enforce that every citizen of the United States would have a SSN. Actually I don’t know why we don’t do that now.
Jaime - Yes everyone has their own number…what I’m talking about is tracking that number. If you are using your number in New York for your job and for credit and such and I steal your number and use your name and number in Florida…it should set off a red flag showing that there are two of you using the same name and number…see? If someone steals my bank info…my bank calls me if someone from some other city uses it…the see my name and number…but they know I’m not using my account…Social Security should work the same way.

The government know more about me that I do…so why would they waste my time asking me to tell them what they already know? They know where I live…they know which party I signed up with…they know how much I paid on taxes…they know where I work….and the list goes on. Why not just run a search on birth certificates from about 125 years ago to present and compare that against death certificates from the same time range and then compare that against a basic social security trace? That search would tell them who is alive and a social security trace will tell them where everyone lives (and the social security trace wold verify if they are dead or not). Why not use that data instead of wasting my time telling them what they already know?

My boss has tasked me with looking into this. He wants us to be able to do our own background checks on potential employees.

Can you do that online for free? It seems like there should be databases where this data is stored online. We need criminal and driving record, social security confirmation, and employment history, preferably.

Thanks

i always wondered if stay at home moms get social security benefits when they are up in age. how do they get it if they never worked?

Recent data has shown that people who smoke die younger and quicker than others and thus draw less on our overburdened social safety nets. Obese people on the other hand tend to kick around a lot longer and cost more in the way of both medical coverage and social security payments. The whole point of taxes on cigarettes is to recoup money the state has to spend on people who are living an unhealthy lifestyle but in reality, smokers cost less without even including the taxes paid.

also i find this somewhat disturbing

"It is not clear whether the employees saw anything other than the basic personal data such as name, citizenship, age, Social Security number and place of birth, which is required when a person fills out a passport application."

well social secruity is hardly basic info. pretty easy to steal a identity and leave out there a trai of false info.

I don’t know how american’s continue to shake these things off.

My mother’s first and last best friend lives in Palm Desert, California, a long way from us. 2,000 miles or more. She would be in her early 90’s now.
I have written to her several times, and called, but her phone is now disconnected, the apt. complex says they cannot tell me anything because of privacy laws, yet my letters to her do not come back to me.
I suspect she could be in a nursing home–but we know no people in common for me to call–she has no children– no one has contacted me either as an emergency contact–in the event she has passed away.

Does anyone know of an agency that I can call to check on her on my behalf 2,000 miles away?

I only know her name and address and approximate year of birth–no social security numbers or any other personal data, however,

Or perhaps, are there any Social Workers on YahooAnswers that are in the Palm Springs or Palm Desert area that could help me find her, or what happened to her?

I appreciate all serious replies.
Thank you.

I was laid off by my last employer at age 50. I did the type of work that they are most likely sending to India or hiring h1bers for…data analysis, programming, etc. With 3 degrees I have not been able to find a similar position and am not interested another type of position. I am now 56. I have, essentially, been forced into early retirement. I have worked for about 26 years and qualify for social security. What is early retirement going to do to what I receive..assuming I start collecting at 62..the earliest?
