When I install zap, i have to configure it. After that, on the firewall -> zones I find a network with my configuration and my IP.
Sometimes, zap tells me that it found another zone (network), with another IP. I searched on the net the IP and it doesn’t exist. Zap tells me very often about the new network, even if it already exists in the zones. The IP is always the same.
This also happens immediately after I install a fresh windows, when I am sure there’s no virus, spy etc. on my computer.

- It is normal to be 2 zones in the firewall, one of them with an unknown IP?
- Does a hacker use my computer?
I thank for any suggestion about this "second zone with an unknown IP".

"Zone Alarm Pro has detected a new network". And I am asked to choose: "use in trusted zone" or "use in internet zone", and a name for the new network. Second time I am asked, if I choose another name, in the zones there is the same network, but with a different name.
the IP is not 255.255.255.255.
the IP begins with 192.168.

I’ve had vaseline rubbed on my brand new truck and my house was egged last night while I slept. I want to catch the person whose doing this on film. Not a lot of cash on hand but need to do something. Does anyone have a suggestion or experience with a good inexpensive system?

We just installed a new ADT security system with multiple motion detectors etc… We are trying to figure out a way to secure our master bath/closet. The ADT guy suggested a glass break for the bathroom as there is a large tempered glass window in there that doesn’t open. When I questioned if it would work for tempered glass, he was unsure, so we didn’t install it.

1. Does the glass break monitor work with tempered glass?
2. If you don’t know, what would be your suggestion on securing the master bath/closet?
need to be secured and just secure the master bedroom, BUT our home was just broken into and they spent most of the time in our master bedroom/bath/closet. So, we need secure that area to alert us immediately if this happens again.

Thanks
Since the window is in the master bath, by code, it cannot be regular glass. It MUST be tempered glass. So we have to work with what we have.

It’s a 1997 Toyota Avalon. The battery died and now we’re trying to jump start it, but each time we put the jumper cable onto the battery, the car’s alarm goes off. We can’t find the clicker, although we have the key. This is all I know by listening to the problem, not watching, but if anyone has a suggestion, please let me know how to get the alarm to stop. Thank you.

An annoying car alarm is sounding continuously
for a long time just outside of your home.

It is daytime and occasionally people walk by.

Preferably you would like to resolve the problem and stop the car alarm.

If that is not possible you wish to teach the owner a lesson.
Perhaps by doing something to the car that shall let the owner know
that he/she should fix the alarm.

You live in a city in which leaving a polite sign on the car
will not urge the owner to remedy this problem.

Any thoughts?
No suggestion is inappropriate for me.

Travelling foreign countries. Need to acces sensitive data. If I sign on to Internet Explorer/Yahoo, will I be secure?
Also read a suggestion to copy my browser on to a flash driver for more security. Any ideas about this? Thanks

I have windows vista. I have Mcafee security. I just ran a Windows Update for the patch for "Security Update for Internet Explorer" and it says after installing, run a full scan on your system. How do I do that with McAfee?
glad i amuse you, gamer.
thank u 4 your suggestion, Tim Br. The M on has an X over it. I rt clicked as suggested, and there is no scan option. I did check, and McA is enabled.

I have a 2001 Nissan Maxima and ever since I took it to the car wash the alarm has been triggering on it’s own. I stopped locking my car to avoid the alarm from going off due to a slight breeze! It worked for a while but today it was pouring rain and the alarm started sounding AGAIN. I didn’t even lock it tonight and it still went off with no provocation. Has anyone had this problem? Is it being triggered by water? I’m afraid my neighbors will have me arrested (or put a hit out on me) if I can’t get this problem solved. I’m not looking forward to a sleepless night, waking up every 30 minutes to turn off my alarm. The only alarm I want to hear is the one I set for the AM! Help!
thanks guys! great answers! i thought about smashing the alarm button into a million pieces but thought twice when i realized it was my only salvation when the alarm sounds on the car…i almost cut wires into bits at random but remembered that i’m NOT MacGyver! so the suggestion to search for the right fuse sounds like a realistic idea and the answer re: the shock spring sounds about right! so thanks guys! in the morning (if i make it without assassination) i’m going to search for a fuse box, a shock spring, and a very VERY large coffee!

I read that WEP is not safe, as well as WPA-PSK. It’s costly to have WPA or WPA2 with RADIUS server for home user. VPN would be a good idea, but VPN client software is expensive for Netgear wireless router (the only affordable wireless router with VPN).

So, I don’t know what the decent options are for my under 0 budget. All I have in mind is something with:

- Dual active Firewall (NAT and SPI).
- Intrusion Detection (IDS).
- WPA and WPA2 (PSK type, I guess).
- Ability to disable SSID broadcast and DHCP server.
- Logging feature of clients that request connection.
- Access policy control (support VLAN).

If it’s possible I still want the VPN, but I’m just daydreaming probably. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I need to view 32 cameras on a single PC via LAN on two monitors. I have two servers to which the office PC needs to connect to and both of them use 16 camera support GeoVision (GV 900) cards. The GeoVision software that is included has remote viewing option but it does not support dual monitors and allows to view only 16 cameras at a time. So any suggestion will be appreciated.

My computer all of the sudden 2 weeks ago sort of crashed and I need to restore the system, but before I do I want to attempt to retrieve the data that is still on the computer. Is this something I can do myself and if so how do I do it?I had taken it to get diagnosed at Best Buy and they wanted to charge me 0 to do a data backup and then another 0 for the restore. I have the system disks and can restre it on my own. I just don’t know how to retrieve any data that I have still on the computer before I do so. Things like music and pictures ect. ANy help or should I pay the 0 and then restore it myself?
What is and where do I find the hard-disk?
I do appreciate the suggestion and although I can restore a hard drive or something pretty basic I really dont know what anything is or where it goes so very explicit instruction would be helpful. Also It is an HP opperating off of Vista Home Premium

the alarm in my car (Mercury sable 1997 wagon) goes off without reason several times in the last 4-5 days. it stopped sounding when i open the door. sometime even it stoped by itself before i reached the car.

i’m broke now :-(, so is there any temporary solution before i can afford to go to have it repaired. is there any fuse that i can take out or a wire that i can cut to deactivate the alarm, or some thing like that. bottom line, i want a temporary solution without spending money at all.

all suggestion are greatly appreciated,

thanks

Hey, I encrypted a few files about 2 months ago, with asus data security manager and now I need those files again but forgot the password. I know that the password contains 2 specific words and 3 numbers but i forgot the order I put them in. So is there anyone out there that knows a program that will calculate all the possibilities and save them to notepad?, Im no mathematician but im pretty sure there couldn’t be more then 300 possibilities Thanks to anyone who took the time to read this.
well unfortunatly I used a third-party encryption to encrypt them so http://www.passwordunlocker.com
wont be effective in this situation thats why I needed something just to save the possiblities to notepad so I can input them manually, but thanks for the suggestion.

Now heres the problem>> i have a list of data that i need to upload to my web site (for example a list of staff’s names, tel. n.o , address etc), and i want need to restrict my staff ( scattered around the globe) to check only his/her data only, bcoz the information is private …

The pages need not be very complicated .. only a box to fill in your unique data (your name and social security number) , submit it , and your can see your information..

How is the best (easiest) way to accomplish that? i need to finish this by 4 days, and there are data for about 350 persons to manage and key in.. i’m new to php and Msql, but my web server supports them. is it possible to use Microsoft exel?
Thank you.
What if i use Virtual basic or microsoft access to do the job? but i have make sure that someone else can’t just copy the file and stole the information in it.. any suggestion?

Hi

I would like a suggestion on a file server depending on these aspects….

Security features - to keep customer data confidential
Cost - midrange, possibly hundreds to a few thousand
Support costs for 3-4 years
Support 1500 customer files +10%/yr for 3-4 yrs

Basically I am looking for a file server to handle about 1500 customer files with room to expand about 10% /yr, with security features for confidential data. Suppose this is for a vehicle dealership with 3 divisions. This could possibly be a number of different file servers or just one server. Brand does not matter. Also, if there is a package deal that comes with hardware and software specifications I could use that info also.
Thanks!

Thanks!
I guess what I’m looking for is something more specific….could anyone just point to one and say…"use this one because…blah blah blah.

Thanks!
Wow, these are really great suggestions, please keep them coming I can use alot of this info…to further explain about the software setup…

Customers will be browsing the inventory 24/7. There are finance people creating files and salespeople doing the same. All in all it is a pretty simple business, a vehicle dealership (mom and pop type) with 3 divisions acting in concert.

My alarm goes off every time i open or close the door and the lights keep flashing for a long time afterward, putting the key in the ignition doesn’t work. I’ve also tried pulling out the fuse for the car alarm, but it doesn’t stop it and it disables other accessories in my car. The remote should turn it off but it doesn’t work either. When i first bought the car the i had this problem, but i took the remote away and it stopped for a while but started up again recently. a while ago water got trapped in the hood and i think it may have damaged something though i’m not sure what . My car alarm is a factory alarm, meaning it isn’t a custom sound the horn just goes off and the lights flash. please give me any advice on how to turn off my car alarm or at least a suggestion what could be wrong with it, please please.
