I am searching for a decent (not too cheap, not too fancy) wireless home security system to place outside my attached garage. I would like it to be completely wireless, including cameras, if possible. A monitor, preferably handheld. And weather resistant, including cold temperatures in the winter. The more info, the better!(brand, store, price) thanks in advance!!

Today, I tried open door with key and Alarm went off. It wouldn’t stop for anything. I drove like that and brought the car home and disconnected the battery. As soon as I connect the battery, alarm starts. Any ideas ? Does anyone know how to fix this ?
Thanks in advance

I received a text message from India on the 16th february 2008. I live in the UK. The message was received incomplete (only partly received, with some missing text). I need the full SMS for legal reasons, but I cannot ask the sender to send it again. I called my mobile service provider in the UK to see if they have it. Unfortunately they dont store SMSs. My next option is to try contacting the service provider of the sender, in India. I cant find the service provider. The indian message centre number is +9198400 11030. Here I am not providing the mobile number of the sender for data protection reasons. Is this possible at all. If so how? Thanks in advance.

I am trying to uninstall Nod 32 and i get an error saying "another application has exclusive access to the file ‘C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ESET\ESET Smart Security\Charon\CACHE.NDB’ Please shut down all other applications, then click Retry." closed all applications but it still get this error. I really need to uninstall cause my computer has no anti virus.

Thanks in Advance

Hi there,

What I am looking for is a piece of software that I am able to create a ‘blueprint’ of my home, and add security devices to the ‘map’. Devices such as PIRs, pressure mats, cameras, and magnetic door sensors. I wish for the software to do a few things;

1. Alert and display when a device is activated.
2. Record a certain camera when a specific device is activated (E.G. Porch camera records if porch door sensor activated)
3. Send an email if a device is activated.

I would ideally like this as PC software, and I understand that there will be some hardware involved. Any names or links would be brilliant.

Thanks in advance,

A

For instance, if I lose my only filer and can’t get another one for a few days, how do i get the data from my tapes. I heard that you can restore to Solaris UFS as long as you don’t care about qtrees. Please provide link to a supporting doc. Thanks in advance.

SQL Server data base. I want to backup the whole of DATA and copy whole thing into an external Hard Drive or DVD. So how to locate the DATA. Will this data then be used for query into MS-EXCEL or ACCESS installing in another Computer.

Thanks in advance.

I have been told by parents to test the network after a short scare. I need software which tries to crack/hack both types of encryption without any source data (like key or similar) needed. It needs to work with vista and a ralink (no idea what model but supports N both 2,4 and 5ghz) wireless adaptor. I will post my computers wireless adaptor too.

Please post instructions or links to them if possible. Both free and paid. Thanks in advance

Because telecommuting is becomming increasingly popular, its neccesary for us to be more careful in planing for information security. As well as for our employees health and personal safty. We wish it was possible to talk to each employee individually, but that is impossible. Instead, we have prepared a "Telecommuter Employees Guide." Which includes structured agreements that specify space, equipment, scheduling, communications, and conditions of employment. The complete guide should be given to whomever is about to begin a telecommuting assignment. We appreciate you discussing the following recomendations with any of your staff members whom are considering telecommuting.

Arranging the Home Workspace

•Create a space where you can expect minimal traffic and distraction.
•Make it comfortable but with suficient space for computer, printer, and fax.
•Make your workspace off-limits to family and friend’s.\
•Provide proper lighting and telephone service.

Ensuring Information Security

•Remember that you’re home office is an extension of the company office.
•Be carful to protect information and avoid computer virus’s.
•Be sure to backup and store data and other information in a safe place.

We do not recommend at-home meetings for telecommuters. By the same token, we suggest using postal boxes rather then home addresses. We also require smoke detector’s in home work areas.

To have any questions answered, my assistant or me can be reached at Ext. 310.

Do I need to change any verbs? If so which ones? Add or delete any words. Thanks in advance!

I know it’s a scam, they can’t even spell certain words right. It’s popping up every two seconds saying I have viruses…while my Norton Internet Security is running just fine.

If anyone can tell me how to clean this off, that would be lovely.

Thanks in advance!

Is this alarm worth getting or should I get a different model that isn’t discontinued. What are the bad things, if any, of getting a discontinued alarm? thanks
couldn’t find much info on google, what issues did you hear about it? thanks in advance.

thanks in advance

please answer with details..

I was going to go with ADT or something similar, but I am not trying to accrue a monthly bill at this moment in time. I know that some monitoring is quite inexpensive, but please don’t give me any of these choices. I probably will go that route in the future….just not right now.

I have checked out X10 and some other ones, particularly one found on this site: http://www.efindoutthetruth.com/Alarms.htm. I was looking at the Wireless Home & Office Alarm System Package #1. I know with these systems there are no monitoring; however I can program it to call law enforcement or household numbers should there be a problem. Can someone recommend the best options available and why you think it is one of the best options. Also, please add if there are any cons BESIDES monitoring or anything else already mentioned. Thanks in advance.

I want to back up my data regularly from my home computer. The files would be zipped and uploaded to an external host by a script (written by me) with FTP.

I know there are pay services which offer such services, but before spending my money I’d like to know if by chance there is a site on the net which offer this for free.

Thanks in advance.
