My computer already has McAfee Security Center on it. Do I need to have Windows Defender on too? And if not, how can i turn it off.

I have avg anti-virus and malwarebytes anti-spyware. is there any other programs i should have?
And is spyware, malware, and viruses all i should care about? Plus what are the best free programs i should have?
and how many of each should i have? and i also have windows defender

I have Windows Defender, AVG, Malwarebytes, Windows Firewall, and Microsoft Security essentials (downloaded that one today). I am also thinking of downloading Spybot search and destroy. Should delete anything or install anything. Plus if this matters i also have cc cleaner.

I am running:

Avast! Free Edition 5
Comodo Firewall (w/ Defense +)
Windows Defender
IObit Security 360

Is this good? Or too much? Or just right? Are all these programs compatible (conflict-free) with each other?

My operating system is Windows Vista by the way.

I just did a fresh install of windows and I installed microsoft security essentials. I’ve used it for a while now with no problems. Is it enough for my computer for all protection? Or should I also get some spyware protection or something? There’s also the windows defender and firewall.

I am currently running:

Avast Free Edition
Windows Defender
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (free edition)

Is this good protection? I download music/movies and surf the web mostly.
I also have Windows Firewall enabled.

I have a Windows Vista desktop btw.

Hey guys…
I’m sort-of in a pickle over a choice of free firewalls. Problem is that I really like COMODO, but there is a major conflict with using it with my printer/scanner (Lexmark). It shuts down all communications between my computer and the printer. It is not good enough to just disable it, it must be un-installed. According to the COMODO website, this is a bug that as of yet has NO fix… I do not have the money right now to just run at and buy a different printer/scanner, so, I’m looking around for a different, good FREE firewall program.
Ive heard that PC tools has a pretty good one and then someone suggested Zone Alarm.
Have any of you guys tried these two before, and if so, which firewall would you reccommend? My current configuration is as follows:

Avast! 4.8 Home Edition free
Windows Defender (real-time)
SUPERantisptware (free)
Malwarebytes (free)
ThreatFire
PC tools firewall (free)

If you think this set-up is fine, please let me know.

Any information would be of great help…..THANKS !!!

I have Avira AntiVirus Personal, COMODO Firewall, Norton AntiVirus, SUPERAntiSpyware, and Windows Defender…the Avira AntiVirus is the free version, and my Norton AntiVirus works but i need a new subscription still….what else should I get?
Or is this good?

I think I uploaded it accidentally, and now it says my computer is infected, and to install some stuff that I definitely am NOT going to install.

I have Symantec Endpoint Protection, and Norton PC Checkup, and Windows Defender. Are any of those going to do the job??

If not, can I download something for free?

I am freaking out, so replies are very, very welcome!

Thank you!

I’ve had my 5 year old desktop secured with antivirus, spyware, firewall, adware, etc. I just purchased my first laptop & since I’m now wireless, my paranoia has come up. Aside from the usual antivirus/spyware/firewall protection, do I need to get something with "wifi security", "bi-directional firewall", and bluetooth protection(‘bluesnarfing’ and ‘bluejacking’ can allow attackers using easily available software to hack into data held on the laptops, or use the machine as a conduit for other activities)? With all these different security programs I’m starting to wonder if they’re really necessary. I’m running vista ultimate & IE7 (which have protection & encryption), Norton Internet Security, keep my file sharing "off", & I’ll be installing Windows defender and Yahoo’s antispyware. Is this enough to keep my laptop data safe in a public wifi area or do I also have to get more security like the one’s I mentioned above? My apologies for the long post & gratitude to those who took the time.

For no apparent reason, sites just keep popping up while I’m on the internet. It’s the same few websites, too. I tried doing scans on my computer (with Windows Defender, Norton Security Scan, and Spyware Doctor), but I can’t make them stop. I want the best security for my computer. What can I do?
Oh, and it’s called drive cleaner.

Here is my current configuration:

Avast Antivirus

Webroot Spysweeper

Windows Firewall

Windows Defender

What I want is:

The VERY BEST firewall protection *we are talking insane security that is has a 1024 bit encryption or better*

And whatever else you can think of that will make my computer impossible to crack. * however close to that I can get *

My computer keeps getting hacked by outside invaders and I want it to stop.

I need to add a anti-virus, anti-spyware, and firewall to my computer. In the past I used avg, kaspersky and avira. Windows defender(windows live one care) used too much cpu. I used Zone alarm and Commando in the past for firewalls.

What is a good anti-virus, anti-spyware, and firewall? I prefer something free and with a sound when a virus is found.

I am new to this & I want other opinions. I have a security suite on my computer now & I dont feel its doing its job. I was told this what I need if I erase it. Please give me your opinion. Thanks

AVG free edition 8.5
SpyBlaster
Windows Firewall( some say turn it off b/c it interferes w/ AVG. Does that mean AVG comes w/ one?
Windows Defender
Malwarebytes
Spybot S&D
CCleaner

I have Windows Vista and every time I log onto my computer the Windows Security Center pops up saying my firewall is turned off and I have to manually turn it on every single time. Also, the Windows Defender does the same thing and when I try to manually turn it back it, it somehow goes off again within a short period of time or it just doesn’t turn on at all. Can anyone help me out please?

I want to fully protect my computer and need some advice

I will be using the computer at a University next year

Should I get an Internet security suite (ZoneAlarm or Bit Defender)

or should I just go with Bit Defenders Antivirus and use windows defender with a spyware software like spybot?

suggestions?

I want to base my decision off of which choice will keep my laptops system resources for my use—-not for the security running in the background

I DONT view porn/adult sites on the internet, nor does anyone from my family. However, I sometimes get from friends/relations, some pictures of family members (no sexual content), nature, e greetings, etc.
Now I find that I suddenly get warning pop ups which say that there is a security danger as I have visited some adult/porn sites, etc. and offers free scan. This free scan is mostly from 'Ultimate Defender', and lists a large no. of dangerous items affecting my computer. Of course they ask for a fee to download their scan program.
This sudden pop up creates serious misunderstandings within the family as we all use only one computer that runs on XP.
I scan my computer daily twice with Windows Defender, Spybot Search and Destroy, and Ad-aware SE. I remove any objectionable spyware/malware/trojan etc. they recommend.
Is there anyway I can get rid of this notice from Ultimate Defender? Is their scan/notice genuine?
Only genuine experts reply, please. Thanks.

My computer keeps popping up with a message saying I have a security problem, even though my security software, and Windows defender both say my computer is fine. I don’t know if anything is wrong - if there is, I want to fix it, if there isn’t, I want it to stop saying there’s a problem - it’s annoying.

There are pictures of what’s happening at: http://mynameisbek.spaces.live.com/photos/cns!DA3BEFA21DCDAD92!1143/

Thanks so much!

I have: Avira AntiVirus Personal, COMODO Firewall, SUPERAntiSpyware, Windows Defender…is this good enough security, please tell me what else I need…..I also have another question I sometimes don't scan my computer such as waiting weeks to scan it, how do I make it automatically scan it?
