I had yahoo my homepage, was looking on another web site at the time the spyware toolbar popped up, it is one of those automatic anti spyware pop ups, annoying!!!
Help me restore my settings, please.
i went to add/remove and cannot find the correct program. i don’t know how to find out what the program attached to my computer as.

"The homeless man lay face down, unmoving, on the sidewalk outside an apartment building, blood from knife wounds pooling underneath his body.

One person passed by in the early morning. Then another, and another. Video footage from a surveillance camera shows at least seven people going by, some turning their heads to look, others stopping to gawk. One even lifted the homeless man’s body, exposing what appeared to be blood on the sidewalk underneath him, before walking away."

its just a realy nice song. .i know smoke on the water by deep purple incense and peppermint’s by strawberry alarm clock but the one im looking for is when he gets in his car and start’s flying. .its a realy nice song. . .please help me yahoo answers :D

I get error 999 but can still access all the favorite links available and my other emails. I have done the traditional stuff: shut down, restart, disconnect, log out, change password, disengage data theft protection, lowered my virus protection, called my ISP and they see nothing wrong with the my service and no "illegal" attempts to access my computer, deleted cookies and such. I have two other emails and i have full access with those. A few weeks ago i got a message from yahoo saying my email account has been comprimised and need to change my password. so i went to the home page and went on to change my password. when i’m logged in, i can see the preview of the emails, but when i click on them or the link, error-999 shows up! i’m at a loss. i have a bunch of emails i NEED to retrieve, but can’t.

like what job has the main goal of scanning a website to make sure no hackers attack/? like yahoo what protects it from hackers ? wats the job that protects it from hackers

I just sent myself an email so I could pick up up a document on another PC. After I sent the message I was informed of the status of the recipient (myself) under the title "Updates from the people you just emailed ". It was a status update on Facebook.

I also noticed a while back, though it seems to have ceased now, that on Facebook in the "people you may know" section it was trawling through my Yahoo! account and digging up people I had emailed over the years. I put this to the test by setting up another Yahoo! account and emailed one person, then set up a Facebook account. Sure enough that person was on my recommended friend list. When I set up my Facebook account I did not provide my Yahoo! email password in order that it could populate my friend list.

In my opinion the above amounts to a serious breach of Data Protection. At no time have I authorised Yahoo! and Facebook to share information on me.
Nope - it’s not something I’m likely to do by accident either.

Just double checked. My Yahoo! account is "private" and I have have no linked accounts.

I moved into a new home in May of 2004 and at that time, it had brand new carbon monoxide alarms. It is a two story home. The alarm downstairs started to beep approximately every 45 seconds about 8 months so we installed new batteries, however it still beeped (please note our only gas appliance is our hot water heater in the garage). This problem continued so… I removed the battery until I could figure out what the problem was. Now the other alarm has started to beep and I just want to know for peace of mind, if there is a time frame as to when to replace the alarms.

Thanks for your continued help. I love Yahoo Answers!

Hi. I’ve never trusted Yahoo! for my data. I’ve lost 9 gb worth of data so far with them. How do I back it up to other services like Gmail or download it to my computer?

I recently was asked to update my mail account - adding security questions. After I added the security questions the home search page reverted back to classic Yahoo and I can’t figure out how to change it back to the new home page. Please help!

I believe that there is only one answer.

It does not say where the drones came from or who made them, though it does say the video surveillance technology originated in Britain and is "not used for civilian purposes."

so, im not the most technology savvy guy, i know my way around some programs but you know, average. i was listening to a lecture about viruses and it caught my attention.

the speaker was talking about people out there (in the internet world) who make worms and viruses etc. and release them into the internet, which brings about my 1st question?

1: how do people even get worms into the internet, now, i know it may seem childish but when i hear that i imagine a worm as being like an airborne virus, the internet being all the air and your random searching being you accidentally running into it while going through a DNS or whatever? so, i know that’s not right, the internet is just light being sent through a cable and being read as 1’s and 0’s and that makes your computer interpret the data and display it, so, how do people get worms in?

okay, going past that, im always curious as to how these things go about doing what they do, its as if the virus has artificial intelligence of logic algorithms??? how can a worm (once again, my mental image) sneak into your computer and hack stuff in a sense so

2: how do worms (viruses etc.) actually get into your computer and hack things, do they just go for random things that every computer has? what if you have some new OS, then would this virus be useless, just pointless data sitting in your computer unable to do anything?

the third thing that was brought up was that once in 07 i believe, microsoft discovered a MASSIVE vulnerability in their DNS servers or something like that, and any would-be hacker could exploit, now, it just ended there, exploit. to do what?

3: if some hacker got into say, Microsoft’s DNS servers, how and, what would they even do?

there as one thing, final one, the speaker said the two of the main 13 servers that make up the backbone of the internet got hacked and severely damaged, running at 20% capacity so.

4: first, i always thought the internet was just all the computers connected together, so… yahoo for an example has their servers, and when we go to yahoo, we are in their servers, and if more people come, they need more servers etc. etc. what are these 13 main servers, who owns them, where are thither? what are their importance?

4.1: also, how could someone hack one of them, all i imagined it being was a HUB, like the center of a mall, there’s nothing to steal there, its just a gate way for making things more organized? what would you hack?

4.2: how do these things get past security, in fact… how does security work??? i imagine it being like a border for getting onto a country (you computer or other networks) the security knows whats legit and lets it pass, and whatever looks suspicious, gets kicked back into the pool or desert internet. how do things get past? are some viruses like airborne real life viruses, and they just "slip through" with no way of stopping them?

4.3: if all this is possible then why don’t (me assuming this makes sense) we (the gov.) just make worms that seek and destroy all this bad software, just make worms that know what should and shouldn’t be and you know, delete them (once again, me trying to make sense)

5:perhaps the least tech required question, why do these people do it, why make problems and viruses, why?

I know that some people believe that Al Gore is not totally accurate about the effects of global warming, but take a look at this article: http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/20070515/sc_livescience/californiasizedareaoficemeltsinantarctica

Do you think this is a cause for alarm, when you consider the impact on global warming and the resulting problems with rising sea-water levels?

I’ve had my car vandalized twice now and broken into once in front of my own house now. This wouldn’t be surprising if I lived in a bad neighborhood or if more cars in the area were getting the same things done to them, but it’s not. The vandalisms and the break-in don’t seem related, but who knows.

Either way, long story short, I’m almost positive it’s a bunch of jacka$$es from my high school (I’m a senior in college, mind you) who caused problems with me throughout high school and now just won’t grow up.

All three incidents happened in the very early or early morning and both vandalisms caused damages over 0 (about 0 for the first one, 0 for the second). Now according to Illinois statutes, any criminal damage to property over 0, provided it doesn’t occur on a school or church property, is a class 4 felony offense, punishable with a minimum of 1 year of incarceration and a maximum of 3 years, extendable to 6.

What I’m thinking of doing is putting a surveillance camera in my living room window, pointed out towards the car so I can record any activity that happens at night. Provided the video is good enough quality, could I get a conviction with it fairly easily? How good of quality does the video have to be?

Also, if you know anything about cameras or surveillance equipment, please answer this question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100607010253AAkVu9y&r=w

Thanks.
Someone said I would need to put signs that cameras are in use, or whatever I get won’t be admissible in court. Is this true?

Good tip Jay. I was actually planning on doing that. First I gotta make the salesman (if I end up buying one) say that it will get a clear picture at that distance. That way, if it doesn’t, I can take it back on the grounds that they told me could do something it couldn’t, there by providing wrongful information on the major point of buying the thing in the first place.
