I’ve had my laptop for about 1 year and now I’m going to sell it, but I was wondering if I should do a system restore. I’m leaning towards doing it because lately my laptop has been slowing down a bit and I’m a little worried. However, I did run Zone Alarm’s virus scan and it didn’t catch anything. Are there some utilities that can help speed up my computer or should I start over with the system restore?

Btw, the laptop is a compaq presario V2565 with Windows XP home edition, 1 GB SDRAM, 80 GB Hard drive, and a AMD Turion 1.77 Ghz processor.

After a few hack threats, I installed the firewall "Zone Alarm", all my P2P file share programs stopped working, even after I told Zone Alarm to allow them (like kazaalite, Emule etc etc ( I thought I could shut off Zone Alarm when I wanted to download things, but even when i shut it down and made sure no residuals were running in processes/ task manager, I still have "something" closing all uploads in all the p2p clients, and no downloads will start even after the stupid Zone Alarm is deactivated .. it’s like it infected me! I"m really angry. I hope if I do a full uninstall It will go away, but I wanted the security of a firewall. , and thank you in advance for any help! .( I don’t need stupid answers like "reinstall" or "it works fine for me" I have had this issue on a few other XP machines, I’m well aware this firewall to the non power user like myself will appear to work fine, but to heavy downloaders, I have seen it do this on a few machines with a clean install.

Zone alarm security will not allow -encryption code he doesn’t have IM security??? How can I get my computer to accept his IM’s??? Thanks for any help with this problem…

When I go to Preferences and choose for Zone Alarm to load at start up, it checks the box, then the check goes away. Why?

I downloaded it and when I try to install it, it says it cannot find the msi package or patch. This is the Zone Alarm firewall only.
