I am currently using One Care Safety Scanner (Full Service Scan). And my ZoneAlarm Extreme Security scanned it and said it’s trojanware and is High risk. I went to Microsoft.com and downloaded the One Care Safety Scanner and on the same page theres a free Microsoft Security Essentials scanner which I downloaded. My ZoneAlarm Extreme Security is for some reason saying it’s "Trojanware". Heres what my ZoneAlarm said: "Backdoor.Win32.ServU-based was found in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Microsoft Antimalware\Support\MPLog-03012010-142526.log on 3/1/2010 14:57:38". Any help is much appreciated thanks.

I just bought a laptop with Win7. My previous system had ZoneAlarm. I heard that Win7 has new security features, should I even bother installing ZoneAlarm or is the firewall builtin the same thing?

I’m very cheap so I installed only freeware softwares to protect my computer.

I have:
- Avast! Antivirus
- Ad-Aware by Lavasoft
- Spybot Search & Destroy
- ZoneAlarm Firewall
- I also have CCleaner

They’re all working out great and they’re all free…and to think I used to waste my money on internet/computer security!

What softwares can I add to my collection? Or am I good? Remember it has to be free if you make any suggestions! lol

If you want my combination here it is:

Avast: http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
Ad-Aware: http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php
SpyBot S&D: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
ZoneAlarm Firewall: http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en-us/zonealarm-pc-security-free-firewall.htm
CCleaner: http://www.ccleaner.com/
CCleaner is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. But the best part is that it’s fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware!

-Also I’ve decided to uninstall Ad-Aware by Lavasoft and go with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

somehow my zonealarm got turned off. I have windows firewall turned off as I heard one should not have both, but cannot figure out how to turn the zone alarn firewall back on and am unprotected.

Please answer in VERY EASY to understand steps so I don’t have to ask question over and over..do not give a bunch of additional information about good spyware programs etc..just how do I turn zone alarm firewall back on as I prefer it to windows. Thanks

My zonealarm contains a antivirus engine, but I don’t want to use Zone Alarm for my antivirus because Zone Alarm is meant for firewall protection, not virus protection. If I turn the antivirus feature of, will their be any conflicts with AVG antivirus?

I don’t care about price. But I am looking for a computer security suite with these features:

~Anti-Virus
~Anti-Malware
~Anti-Spyware
~Anti-Adware
~Anti-Phishing
~Anti-Spam
~Ad Blocker
~Protective, yet "hands-off" firewall
~Computer scanning
~Frequent (automatic) updates
~Advanced customization
~Any other features to keep my computer safe
~Use little computer resources

I heard from various sources that…

ESET Smart Security Home Edition V3.0
Kaspersky Internet Security 2009
Symantec Norton 360 2.0

are the best programs. But which one is the best? I only want one, all-encompassing security program to run on my computer. Any help would be greatly apprehensive.
Wow … I specifically state suite in the question and details and the first answer avoids it like a car accident. So hard to find a good, unbiased answer now days…
Ahh man, ZoneAlarm looks good too .. now I’m really confused. :(

i have zonealarm security scanning my computer for spy ware and it says

current data: win32.trojan.spy.ksniff

and lots of other things like that

is this spyware/viruses that my zonealarm isn’t noticing (because it doesn’t say any spyware was found)

if it is spyware how do i delete it

HELP,
but while it was scanning it was saying things along that line

was it scanning programs named that or looking for programs named that

I want to fully protect my computer and need some advice

I will be using the computer at a University next year

Should I get an Internet security suite (ZoneAlarm or Bit Defender)

or should I just go with Bit Defenders Antivirus and use windows defender with a spyware software like spybot?

suggestions?

I want to base my decision off of which choice will keep my laptops system resources for my use—-not for the security running in the background

I have had computers for the last 10 years and never used virus protection software. I do use a firewall, but I prefer hardware ones, as stuff like zonealarm just doesn't work. And as of yet, I have never had a virus/worm/trojan which threatened the data on my PC.

PC World makes out that without McAffee or Norton, you WILL get a virus as SOON as you switch your modem on.

I turned on computer it said I was unprotected and at risk. I know you shouldn't turn on windows firewall when za is on so I am hesitant to turn it on.

This is what I am doing to try to turn on. Is this right I also encounter a problem trying to get zone alarm off my screen or out of the taskbar when done.

I click on icon in taskbar for zonealarm and when a box woth a stop sign on it pops up, I click on firewall. I slide the internet zone security to high (stealth mode). I slide the other button trusted zone security to high (stealth mode). I think it is on.

I then try to x it off the screeen but instead a zonealarm tip box comes up. It says to shut down zone alarm, click on zone alarm try icon (is this the box containing the words) and right click the words shut down zone alarm, but it refuses to let me click that and is stuck on the words restore zone alarm control center. Since I am afraid to click that as I don't know what it means, and don't want to click ok, I try
cancel but this just put me back to the stealth mode page and I can not get it off the screen so I have no choice but to minimize it and keep it there the whole time I am working on computer, but when I return it on, it says the firewall is shut off and I am back to square one. Please tell me how to keep it turned on and how to get the blasted thing off my taskbar. Help as I am worried. Need someone to explain in easy to understand terms as I am learning and not that savy on computers. Please help

I have downloaded Norton Anti Virus 2003, Zonealarm and Ad-aware all onto my computer. Is this a good combination to have to keep my computer safe? Are there other programs that I should install as well? Have I installed too many programs? Answer would be appreciated!

It never gave me this message I was unprotected before.

Hello.

My computer came with a copy of Norton Internet Security already installed. I then installed a copy of Zonealarm Security Suite.

I have the two running together, however the 'Anti-Virus' portion of Zonealarm is off and I can't turn it on because Symantec Antivirus is on! Now, as the Norton pack came with the computer, parts of it - namely the anti-virus - are now expiring, but I don't want to pay to renew them.

So what should I do?? I kinda want to completely uninstall the Norton package so the fully-functioning up-to-date Zonealarm can control every aspect without Norton getting in the way.

Firstly I don't know how to do this, and secondly…is this really a good idea?!?!?! Or am I very confused and delusional?!?!?

Any help much appreciated - if there's anything else you need to know just ask! Points will of course be awarded to those who can help me with my Internet security!!!

Thanks so much!
