video surveillance software?
I was wondering if anyone knows any software that can edit video (magnify mainly) security camara footage.
A friends car got stolen (gated community) and of course the complex doesn't know what to do with the footage, and the police don't really care, so he asked me to see what I could do with the footage, try to get a license plate or a face.
Anything could help, doesn't have to be free software. Thank you!

Depending upon the kind of camera, the lens and the type of sensor, there may not be a whole lot that you can do. If the 'action' happened 40 - 50 feet away with a wide angle lens, there likely isn't too much quality available there to zoom with.
However, I'd suggest that you try Adobe Photoshop. If you're good with that program, you can do some amazing things. I use a program called IrfanView. It is okay for minor touch ups but it doesn't really do the job for the really major jobs.
Incidentally, this is one of the reasons that I suggest using a computer as the heart of your surveillance system!
