We very rarely get anything harmful on the computer and the few times we have it was quickly quarantined. Now, if you go to the wrong site and intentionally click on something or download attachments without verifying first, well, no software can protect you from yourself. But for a top notch firewall and virus protection you will find it hard to beat F-Secure which it typically rated above Norton and McAfee, if I am not mistaken. If you configure the IE and protect the Active X controls properly, you do not need spyware and you are safe. Mcfee is good for Virus. also Use Windows Defender which will notify when some spyware is trying to enter and u can decide whether it is spyware or not.
