Okay, so if you’re having a homebirth, why are you worried about having the baby in the car? Did your midwife not go over these things with you? Please call her and discuss your concerns with her or your care provider. Every labor is different, but with a first-time teen mom, your baby is not going to slip-slide out with the first contraction. Your water could break days before the baby is born, but nearly all care providers will want you delivered within 24 hours or so of your membranes rupturing(if you are term or near term); otherwise there is a greater chance of infection occurring. If you are in the car and the baby’s coming out, simply have the driver pull over and let the baby be born. Don’t try and cut the cord and for God’s sake, don’t pull on the cord. Put the baby to your breast to nurse (which will help your uterus clamp down and control bleeding) and either call an ambulance, or simply head home (if you were planning a homebirth and the reason you’re in the vehicle is not because you’re being transported to the hospital).
as soon your water breaks, rush to the hospital!!!!!!! WE WANT THAT BABY TO BE HEALTHY!
have a happy life with your baby!
You wont be able to stop pushing, if you have to push you have to push..
You really should of read your books, or planned your birth plan a bit better i think.. Especially if you dont know the answer to this and your almost due..
what can i say, another teenage pregnancy, doesnt suprise me you dont know
im guessing that when your water breaks u keep breathing and try to keep it in until you get to the nearest hospital.my mother was pregnant at 15 and gave birth at 16,19,21
usually after your water breaks the baby will be here within 12-24 hours.
and when you actually push and deliver depends on your dilation. until you are a 10 you cannot push. and just because your water breaks dosent mean that you are fully dilated.
in some cases your water will never break (most cases actually, only 15% of womens water breaks on its own) the doctor will actually break your water in the hospital, even then it can still be several hours before you deliver.
Nope I had my water brake at 4:30 while i was sleeping and i went to the hospital and didnt have the baby until 6:30.
It doesn’t take 5 minutes. Make sure you get some help first, even if it means you won’t be rushed to the hospital. All I’m telling you is it will come after your water breaks. The baby is now free and ready to enter the world. It usually takes about 6 to 7 hours for your baby to be received and 30 minutes for the placenta to be delivered as well. Don’t be scared or anything but you need some assistant especially if you need a C-Section
(ah sorry if I got the wrong terminology"
well listen to this sweetie. when your water breaks have your boyfriend take you to the hospital right away. then they will guide you from their. and no child birth is not that painful.as long as you use that pain killer shot during labor. good luck with the baby!!!!!
OMG… your gunna do a home birth?! i dont care if your dads a dr. It does not means he can birth a teenS baby. also i am wondering about your question because its contradictory in places. So say that i will just offer this……GO TO A REAL DR AND ASK THESE QUESTIONS.

NO! if you push before you get to the hospital either YOU or the BABY will die. Good Luck.
It is very highly unlikely for the baby to come as soon as the water breaks. Very unlikely. I don’t know what sites you are looking at, but you should consider a site like http://www.whattoexpect.com "what to expect" is also a book, basically running down all the information you need.
Also, if you do not feel comfortable with a home birth, do not do it. It can be unsafe, ESPECIALLY if you are uneducated on the matter.
Have you not taken any prenatal classes? That’s what they teach! They prepare you for labour and delivery.
First babies are usually pretty slow, it’s not like you’re likely to deliver in a car. First babies usually take 8 - 20 hours of labour before they arrive. You’ll have plenty of time.
PS your water doesn’t always break, sometimes the doctor has to break it.
No baby does not com immediately after water breaks. With my first my water broke before I started having any contractions. I was only dilated to 3 and you have to be dilated to 10 before you start pushing. Labor is most generally a lengthy process. From the time you first start having contractions till baby actually comes will most likely be hours.
I don’t recommend a home birth even with a doctor present. The typical household does not have the equipment necessary to aid in a birth that has complications. Also w/o a PKU test you should give your baby any milk for fear of retardation. If your water breaks it does not mean that the baby is coming that instant, that might not happen for hours or even days. You should not push unless directed by a professional who will tell you when your cervix is dilated to 10 cm. Any smaller will cause damage to you and the baby. If you are planning on a home birth then it is unlikely that the baby will come out in a car unless you are just driving around when you are in active labor. Usually if the baby is already crowning it is safe to push but you have to be careful of cord around the neck and other problems like that. I really, really would not advise you to have a home birth, there is simply too much that could go wrong and I feel, and I think you would agree that the health and safety of your child is what should come first.
when your water breaks, your contractions will start, and the baby IS on the way but it could take a very long time before the baby comes, in some cases a few days (don’t worry about that, its not common at all to be that long)
remember you have to be 10cm dilated before the baby will even crown, so you have nothing to worry about, you will be told when to push, and the baby wont just ‘come out’
unfortunately, yes, it will hurt like hell
Dogluvr is WRONG! DO NOT RUSH TO THE HOSPITAL AS SOON AS YOUR WATER BREAKS.
Water breaking is a sign that labor is ABOUT to begin, but it does not mean the baby is coming right then. You will know when labor is starting. Generally it is about 24-48 hours after the water breaking that labor starts.
But if you freak out and rush to the hospital at first sign, they will have you locked in a room & you will be giving up control of your birth from the very first moment. Make sure you are truly in labor before going to the hospital (not "hard labor", but you will know when the slight contractions become regular). Otherwise you are setting yourself up for an overmonitored & uncomfortable childbirth expereince.
It’s going to hurt, (from what my wife tells me - I’m a guy so obviously everything I say gets taken with a grain of salt), but according to her the pain is much closer to running a marathon then getting kicked in the crotch. She said it was like a long distance athletic event, not "pain" per se up until the last part. Yes, active labor will hurt… but that will be 1 hour tops. The rest of it is about managing your pace & your body… and going to the hospital too soon & giving yourself up to doctors to put monitors upon monitors on your body is not going to make it a comfortable experience for you.
Whatever you do, just be as relaxed as you can be. This is your birth & your baby, so try to have the courage to trust yourself over any advice (ESPECIALLY from folks on the Y!A forum
I don’t have kids but I have seen women have kids. When your water breaks the baby might just come right out or it may take a few hours it depends on the woman. My mother has a friend whose baby just plopped out after her water broke. Before that kid, she had given birth to five others so that might be why. I have heard that the pain is really intense. I think that you should push only if the doctor tells you to push.
It does not matter that your dad is a doctor. You need someone who knows what they are doing in childbirth especially because your’e a teenager. You need to go to hospital and have a midwife/Gynacolgist. Somone who knows what they are doing, I’m not trying to insult your Dad but you need a specialist.
Your water breaking is not always the first sign of labour, that can happen part way through. Labour will start with braxton hicks style contractions then get alot worse, you will get back ache and perhaps be sick. You can not push your baby out until you are 10 cm dialated. A specialist will know how to check this. Once you are fully dialted instinct kicks in and you will feel the need to push, the way my midwife described pushing was as if you are trying to poo lol.
You will know when your baby is coming and when he/she is it doesn’t matter where you its going to happen there and then.
Because this is your first baby labour will probably take a while, mine took 10 hours and that’s very quick for a first baby.
If your worried about pain a Tens Machine is good and it helps take away the pain. I had a part water birth which was brilliant. I only came out the water when I was fully dialted so I could give birth on the bed. I had pethadine and gas an air to help with the pain. But you could also have an epidural which will completely numb your contractions. But all this pain relief is only available if you go to hospital.
Congratualations on your baby and good Luck with everything.
No. Your water can break with no labor… and if your water is broken for too long, the baby is at risk of infection. If your water has broken and you do not go into labor within about 24 hours you MUST go to a hospital instead of trying your home birth. The baby could end up in trouble if you don’t. Also, if your water is broken, do NOT take a sit-down tub bath, as the risk of bathwater entering your uterus and making the baby sick is very high once your water has broken.
Your water will not always break when you go into labor. Sometimes it does not break at all, and many midwives consider it good luck for a baby to be born with an intact amniotic sac.
Above all, if you’re alone when you’re in labor, call your boyfriend’s dad, or even 911 if you’re feeling the urge to push. The cord can get wrapped around the baby’s neck, so it’s not a good idea to attempt it alone, especially if you’re young and inexperienced. But if you get stuck, call 911 and they will talk you through it.
I am going to give you some childbirth sites (below) to help prepare you better, but you’d better read fast if you’re due soon.
Feel free to contact me on messenger if you feel the need to talk.
Good luck!
