Zone alarm free version v/s and Quick heal original version 2006?
Hi. I have the original version of quick heal 2006 now. After the expiry I am thinking of using the free version of zone alarm. Is it ok? I have a broadband connection and Windows XP service pack 2. I use internet explorer for browsing the webpages. I also have spyware doctor installed now. My quick heal account will expire in a few days. I don’t know much about these stuffs. Please help me out. Thanks.

Zone Alarm Free is a firewall only. Quick Heal is an Anti-virus. A firewall is not enough protection alone. You need to add an anti-virus and an anti-spyware to a firewall for complete protection.
For your anti-spyware needs:
Here you are:
Pick and choose at least 2 from the list below. New spywares are created literally hourly, so no single anti-spyware can really detect all malware. Have at least 2 on hand and alternate scanning with each every few days or so. All are free. All can remove as well as detect.
Spybot Search and Destroy:

Ewido:

Adaware SE:

Unfortunately, many "paid for" anti-spyware products are in fact either of limited usefulness or downright scams. When in doubt, look at the list of rogue anti-spyware solutions listed here:

And to protect your computer from ever getting infected with spyware in the first place, you can use these 2 freebies:
SpywareBlaster:

For your anti-virus needs:
Here is a list of all the major free anti-virus programs:
Avast:

Anti-Vir:

AOL AntiVirusShield:

Clamwin: (on-demand only, no real-time protection)

All are fairly mediocue compared to some of the top rated (paid) anti-virus programs such as Kaspersky (KAV) or Eset NOD-32. But you can’t beat the price.
